48th Tick: A New World

Rose opened her eyes, white light shining from above. She blinked a few times before rubbing her eyes. She sat up and looked to the side, seeing Thomas sitting there, thinking. She looked around, it seemed to be a house of some kind. Thomas sat down, thinking hard on what to do. He had failed to stop the merging of the demon realm and the human world. He cursed and kicked a chair. “What happened?” Rose asked. Rose had passed out when she saw the meteor strike the ground where Episode stood. The next thing she knew, she was in the house with Thomas. “He did it, he merged the human world and the demon realm.” Thomas said, pacing around. “I saw a meteor, why didn’t I die?” Thomas scratched his head and sighed. “That demon general protected you. I don’t know why, but at least he had the decency to save you.” Rose tried to move, but winced in pain, her previous injuries not yet healed. She looked at her wounds and then at Thomas, almost as if asking him to do something about them. Thomas, in reply, extended both hands, revealing black cuffs around his wrists. Pitch black, wrapping around his wrist with chains hanging a roughly thirty centimetres long. He tapped the cuffs and said, “These things are annoying. I can’t use my abilities.” “So you’re telling me you can’t reverse time back to before the merger?” Rose asked. “Yes.” “And that a demon defeated you.” “I was caught off guard.” Rose sighed and tried standing up, but instantly fell back down from pain and exhaustion. She blinked, Thomas just watching. He said, “You better just lie down. You’re body needs to heal properly. I’ll bring you into The World Clock where it’s safe, after that, we have to wait until you recover.” “How long will that take?” “With your injuries? At most a month?” “So what’s going to happen to the world?” “I don’t know.” Rose thought about it. It felt to her that that was the first time Thomas had un-ironically said that he did not know something. He liked joking, he constantly said he did not know something when he did not feel like answering it. However, without his powers, possibly without his immortality, he looked defenceless, his words were more believable than ever. Thomas looked at the ceiling, then sighed, pulling out his pocket watch. After Rose was moved to The World Clock, he sat in the house, alone. He covered his faced, exhaling. He had foolishly pulled Rose back from Heaven, even Thomas himself was unsure of why he had saved her. She was given a chance to be somewhat divine, to become an Angel, a chance rarely given to humans. He had pulled her back, forcing her to be part of the human world once again. As a result, he had reverted to his infant age, an age where he was unaware of what was going on. The effect lasted an indefinite number of days, he was unable to return to that period of time, he could not control what was to happen during that time. Thomas clenched his fists and slammed the table in anger. He was lucky that he even managed to try and stop Episode, but it was too late, he was too slow in making a decision. Thomas stood up, adjusting his suit before walking out of the house. The world was to change, he guessed the Devil was behind it, the idea itself was likely from the Devil. Fourth of Four Myths, TruthDevil. Thomas swore to himself, he was going to remove his chains, and he was going to fix everything that had happened. He walked past the landscape, a red ground, with patches of normal dirt, the sky was tinged red and the air burnt. Thomas walked along, looking at the place. He was going to have to rewind time, he needed to confront Episode. However, first, he needed to take care of Rose. It was not because she was important to his cause, not because she was in danger. It was because he wanted to repay her for what she had done for him by taking care of his child self. Thomas opened the portal again and stepped back into The World Clock, leaving the human world behind. The human world could wait for him, he was to see what changes would occur in the month where he was to not be around. “Where did you go?” Rose asked. “Where can I even go?” Thomas replied. “I don’t have my powers anymore.” “Do we have a plan?” “Maybe.” “What is it?” Thomas pulled a coin he had picked up in the human world and flipped it. He caught it and told her, “Nothing at all.” “Wow, very helpful.” Rose complained. “Shut up, do you have a plan then?” Thomas countered. “I don’t feel like killing Episode is a good idea.” Rose muttered. “Then how am I supposed to get these chains off me?” Thomas asked. “Can’t you ask someone else to help? Maybe someone that could get rid of the chains or help convince Episode?” “If only it was that simple.” “The second Myth... what are his abilities?” Thomas paused, looking at Rose who was lying on the ground. He sat down beside her and scratched his head. “That guy... JoyRide, I would rather not speak about him.” “What kind of person is he?” Thomas breathed in, wincing slightly from the memory. “Someone you wouldn’t want to meet.” “But can he help us?” “Maybe.” “Then-” Thomas yawned loudly and stretched. He told her, “Shut up and go to sleep already. You need to quickly heal.” “Wh-” Rose started to say. Thomas covered his ears. “I’m not going to listen to anything regarding a plan as long as you’re not healthy, so heal properly. I’ll bring you food, take care of you, so just stay put, don’t strain yourself.” Rose listened to Thomas. Thomas stepped out of The World Clock and into the human realm, or the demon realm. Thomas looked at the sky and sighed, not believing he was going to do what he was about to do.
