Chapter 11

RYAN

I am so shocked, I told myself I will try and control myself and keep a straight face when I am around her, so we do not argue, but there she was telling me she wants to go running with me.

I know she will not be running besides me but the thought of her holding onto me when I will be running, just drives me crazy.

We are standing outside my front door and the atmosphere is extremely awkward. I do not know what to say to her, she too has not said anything since we left my room. I decide to clear the air and speak to her first.

'So, let us walk a little further into the forest I don't want to have to transform here.’ I say.

'Don't you transform in front of the pack?' she asks me and starts walking besides me.

'I do but this is a special occasion.’ I say throwing her a side glance.

'How is it a special occasion? ‘She asks me c*****g her eyebrow.

'You are going to see me transform for the first time into my wolf form, so I want to do so where it's just you and I.’ I say increasing my steps.

'Oh, that's sweet.’ Riana smiles at me, I should not take it to heart because she may just be messing with me as usual, but I smile back to act polite.

'Okay let us walk a little faster, my boys are guarding the boarder, but I still don't like being out too late.’ Her smile may or may not be real, but my heart still warms at the sight of that.

We get to the forest, and she looks happy or dare I say satisfied. I call upon my wolf and I can feel my bones cracking in place, it does not ache when I transform anymore. I finally I feel myself drawn to the back and Zack comes out in control. I did not bother removing my clothes because I did not want her to see me, we have not reached that stage yet.

I transform into a big brown wolf with white stripes and orange eyes. I walk towards Riana, or more like Zack walks towards her and rubs his head on her body. Riana moves back a little stunned.

'Beautiful.’ Riana says, all other words lingering on her tongue. All I could do is growl because it is not like we can communicate. We are not linked yet. Riana sighs and uses her good hand to remove her hair from her face as the wind blows it all over the place.

I nudge my head and encourage her to get on my back. She stands there looking shy, a side of her I never thought I would ever see. She seems hesitant but I nudge my head towards her once again, refusing for her to change her mind. She finally gives up and puts her right leg first and uses her right hand to get on my back.

'Hey lover boy, try not to go too fast, remember I only have one good hand right now. You don't want me falling off now do you?’ Riana says. I cannot see her face but for some reason it feels like she is smiling brightly. My thick and heavy paws pound on the ground, connecting with the core of the planet. I feel Riana's grip on my fur getting tighter telling me to slow down, but Zack's too greedy and will not stop.

I hear Riana shouting with glee and I know at this very moment I have managed to make her laugh, and this is a moment I will cherish forever. I stop at the river side where a cabin is and shake my body, indicating for her to get down and she does.

'Thank you.’ She says, she thanked me, now this is something you do not see every day. I walk towards the river and settle down there. Zack is enjoying every moment of this, especially looking at her gazing at the stars. Riana continues to gaze at the stars but begins to pat me. What is she doing? Zack asks me. I should not like this, but I love it in so many ways because it is her.

***RIANA

I had a wonderful time yesterday although I do not expect him to think that things between us have changed. I was just in mood of being nice for a change. I cannot wait to go back home and rest, so I can get this cast of my f*****g arm. I am all dressed and waiting for May to come by the room. Just in time she walks through the door.

'Hey Riana.’ She says extremely energetic.

'Hey May, you look happy.’ I smile back politely at her.

'Well, I just didn't know you were surrounded by such handsome men.’ She says giggling a little.

'Excuse me? Which men are you talking about?' I ask her curious.

'Your brother and his omega.... What's his name again Chase.’  I frown at her unpleased with her observation.

'Aren't you 17? Why are you looking at older men?’ I ask her.

'Oh, come on I'm sure they aren't that old.’ I feel like a coward because at 17 Chase and I were not well behaved. May is so adorable that I cannot hold my frown and I begin laughing, and she joins along as well. So far, my day has started off pretty well I hope to keep it that way.

'All right come on, come on we've got to grab breakfast before your ride for home gets here.’ May says pleasantly.

'Sure.’ I stand from the bed and walk out of the bedroom, trailing behind her. I did not come with much, but I do have what is mine. Walking down the stairs the house is filled with the smell of bacon, eggs and sausage, my mouth already watering.

'Uhm May...' She stops and looks back at me waiting for me to speak.

'Yes?' She responds.

'Do you have a cook?' I ask her and she stares at me confused at first then she laughs.

'No, why would you think that?' she asks.

'The food smells delicious I can literally hear my stomach screaming in hunger.’ I say while rubbing my right hand over my stomach in circles.

'Oh, it's my brother. He can whip a mean meal hey.’  May says and continues to walk down the hallway.

'I see.’ I say and keep quiet until we get closer to the kitchen, and I hear three voices laughing over God knows what. Upon entering the kitchen, I see my brother Raid, Chase, and the Alpha Ryan. They are seated around the dining table in the kitchen and eating. There is an empty seat by Ryan and Chase. As we enter further into the kitchen, we make our presence known and their eyes turn to us as we enter the kitchen. I walk and decide to sit next to Chase. I feel Chase tense up beside me, I see Ryan's jaws clenching and unclenching but I decide to turn my face away.

Raid sighs and drops his fork, 'Riana you just had to, right?'

'What are you talking about?’ I ask him frowning.

'So now you are going to act like nothing’s wrong?' Raid asks again clearly irritated for some reason.

'Am I missing something here? Is it family feud?' May asks, Ryan continued eating his food without uttering a word. Is it possible that I just wanted a reaction from him? I do not know I could have easily gone to sit next to him, but I decided not to.

'You know how to ruin people's morning.’ Chase says and stand up from the chair and walks out of the kitchen.

'I have things to do. You can carry on with your breakfast. I'll excuse myself from the table.’ Ryan gets up from his chair too and walks out the kitchen.

'Hold up, did I do something wrong that two people from the table stood up when I came in?' I ask annoyed by their childish behaviour.

'Are you really asking that?' Raid says rubbing his temples.

'Okay you know what I've lost my appetite too.’ I stand up from the chair and walk out the kitchen to the front door. I see chase sitting on a bench outside the door scrolling through his phone.

'Hey.’ I say. He looks up at me and continues scrolling through his phone.

'Are you going to ignore me?' I ask him.

'What do you really want from me Riana?' Chase asks putting his phone down.

'Well for starters I wanted to apologise for the other day.’ I sit beside Chase, and he moves further away from me.

'Yes, these days I think you're going to be apologising a lot. Why did you have to sit beside me at the table?' Chase looks at me knowingly.

'I wanted to, plus you and I haven't spoken since our fight.’ I say turning my head away, so he does not read my emotions.

'I haven't spoken to you Riana with good reason because you pissed me off.’ Chase huffs and picks up his phone again.

'I'm not going to deal with your testosterone right now.’ I stand from the bench and see my parent’s car come park in front of Ryan’s house. This is weird because the day we came we remained at the gate. As soon as I see my parent’s car pulls up in front of the house. Ryan walks straight towards my parents ignoring me completely and I am fine with that.

'Good Morning.’ Ryan says to my parents and shakes my dad's hand.

'Good morning, Ryan we've come to pick up our packages.’ Dad say trying to lighten the atmosphere that I am sure my dad caught on too. Ryan only smiles politely and turns to where I am and points at me.

'There is package number 1'. Ryan says. 'Package number 2 is coming out in a second'. Just then Raid comes walking out of the house, hands in his pocket and walks straight into the car after nodding at Ryan.

'Thanks for keeping an eye on them son, I know things didn't go as planned because of that saga but we will sort things out next time. We spoke to your parents, so we are in the good'. My dad says.

'All right next time you should come to our pack'. Mom adds there after getting into the car.

'Yes of course ma'am'. Ryan says and stands tall still avoiding any eye contact with me and continues to pretend that I am not even there. I walk towards the car with Chase by my side and get in. I try and look at Ryan for the last time, but he avoids me.

'Bloody Alpha'. I mutter under my breath.

'What did you say party pooper?' Raid asks me.

I chose to ignore both Raid and Chase and stare out the window. Do you know that point in your life where one event opens a chain of other events? Yes, you can say that was my life now, after getting injured by an arrow, I thought I would catch a break but that was not the case at all.

Driving away from Ryan's pack was the least of my worries. You could actually call me crippled right now because I cannot transform, I will be in so much pain.

I thought that finally I will get peace and rest, but the universe was not giving me s**t. The road was too quiet, ever wondered how they could be wind, tress moving but everything seemed off?

That is when I saw it, a woman suspended in mid-air surrounded by black mist looking straight at our car, the only one on the road now. Outside my window I see those damned creatures, bloody vampires. Not one, but one too many. In that very moment I registered everyone's shock before I scream. 'Dad, watch out'. That is when our car flipped up in the air.
