The next morning, I woke to snoring. Both boys had an extra blanket and curled themselves up into a ball with their backs to me. I chuckled a little, remembering the memories how I would wake them up. Sometimes I was really mean and threw water on them, other times I would grab them some breakfast and put it on the bedside tables for them.
Today though, I just get up and take clothes to the bathroom for a shower. I wait for it to get as hot as I can stand and then I get in. I stay in for as long as I can justify before getting out and ready for the day. I chose a pair of black jeans, black shirt and my black combat boots. I brushed through my long silky blond hair, but leave it down to dry. By the time I was done, the boys had woken and left.
I decided to go down to the cafeteria to get some coffee, but mostly to show my face to everyone. Go through the motions, right?
There we not to many people eating yet, but those that were came over and gave me hug or patted my shoulder. Not much was said, what could they say? I stayed for a while, but eventually made my way up to my dad's office. I'm not sure what work can wait and what can not.
No one else is in there so I go sit behind the desk. I never noticed before, but he has several picture frames on the left side of the desk. One is of me, one is of mom, and the third is of the three of us. I pick up the family photo and I cry again, but this time scream over and over how this isn't fare.
I ended up destroying the couch, coffee table, and sitting chairs.
I eventually calm down and go into the bathroom connected to the office and wash my face. Then I go back to the desk and start looking over the paperwork. Pretty soon the Beta, Gamma, and their sons come in. They all look surprised at the mess I made, but don't say anything. They all start picking up the mess and take it out to be thrown away.
As they all come back in, they carry some chairs to sit on until we get new furniture.
"Let's get started on what needs to be done for today and tomorrow."
We spend the next several hours working on the immediate needs.
"Princess, we should schedule your coronation for Friday. Tomorrow is Sunday, that should give us enough time to prepare everything." Beta looked me as he spoke and I saw him tear up a little.
"Princess, we know this is extraordinarily hard for you. Just remember you have the four of us helping you, not to mention Sheila and Camilla." I knew Gamma was trying to comfort me.
"I really appreciate all of you, I would never be able do all of this without you." I look at each of them.
"Son, why don't you go get your mother and Sheila. The ladies can talk through what we need to do for the coronation." Abrham nodded and left to do as Beta Ben said.
He was back soon with the ladies and their respective mates and we talked for another few hours about the ceremony. For the most part, they would take care of it, but will check in with me throughout the week.
They all decide that they're hungry and convince me to go with them. I hadn't eaten since breakfast yesterday so I would try to eat a little something. After we eat, I decide to go for a run, so I go put on some workout clothes and sneakers.
After my run, I shower and go sit in my rocking chair on the front porch. This time I bring some music and relax for a while. Before I know if, Abrham and Austin come get me for dinner. Once we ate, they brought me back to my room and laid with me like last night.
We watched movies until we fell asleep.
The next morning, the boys are gone when I wake up. I go shower, then dress in a light blue sun dress. Blue and white are our pack colors and per tradition, light blue is worn to funerals. I leave my hair down, but pin the sides up and out of my face.
So this is it. The day I have to put my parents to rest.
The darkness starts to close in on my again.
-Adeera, I'm here. Don't give in to the darkness. You have to be strong.
-I here you Alex. I miss them.
-I know, Honey.
I take a deep breath and walk out of my bedroom, really dreading this day.
