The storm arrived late that night.
Heavy rain poured over the small coastal town, and strong winds rattled the windows of Elena’s little cottage.
Inside, Elena paced slowly across the living room, gripping the back of a chair as another sharp pain spread through her body.
Her breathing grew uneven.
“It’s too early…” she whispered.
Her baby wasn’t supposed to arrive for another two weeks.
But the pain in her stomach kept getting stronger.
Another contraction hit her, forcing her to bend slightly as she held her stomach.
“Okay… okay…” she murmured, trying to stay calm.
She had prepared for this moment for months, reading books and taking prenatal classes in town.
But now that the moment had actually come, fear rushed through her.
Elena grabbed her phone with trembling hands and dialed the only person she could think of.
Mrs. Harper.
The phone rang twice.
“Elena?” the older woman answered.
“I think… the baby is coming,” Elena said breathlessly.
Within minutes, Mrs. Harper arrived at the cottage wearing a raincoat and carrying an umbrella.
“Oh my goodness,” she said, quickly helping Elena toward the door. “We need to get you to the hospital.”
The storm outside had turned the streets into rivers of rainwater.
Mrs. Harper carefully helped Elena into her car before rushing around to the driver’s seat.
“You’re going to be fine, dear,” she reassured her.
Elena nodded weakly as another contraction hit.
Her hands instinctively rested on her stomach.
“Just hold on,” she whispered to the baby.
Hours later…
The bright lights of the hospital room made Elena squint as nurses moved quickly around her.
“Push, Elena!” the doctor encouraged.
Elena gripped the hospital bed tightly, gathering the last of her strength.
Then she pushed.
A loud cry suddenly filled the room.
The sound echoed through the air, small but powerful.
Elena collapsed back against the pillows, exhausted.
The nurse gently lifted the tiny baby and wrapped him in a soft blanket.
“Congratulations,” she said with a warm smile. “You have a healthy baby boy.”
Tears filled Elena’s eyes as the nurse placed the baby carefully in her arms.
The tiny boy looked up at her with wide curious eyes.
His small fingers wrapped around her thumb.
And in that moment, Elena felt something she had never experienced before.
Pure love.
“Hello, Liam,” she whispered softly.
The baby’s dark hair and sharp little features made her heart ache.
For a brief second, she thought about Alexander.
Because the resemblance was already there.
The same dark hair.
The same strong features.
Elena swallowed the thought quickly.
Alexander could never know.
This child was hers to protect.
Mrs. Harper stepped closer to the bed, wiping tears from her eyes.
“He’s beautiful,” she said.
Elena smiled softly as she looked down at her son.
“Yes,” she whispered.
“He is.”
Across the country, inside a luxury penthouse in the city…
Alexander Wolfe stood on his balcony, staring out at the skyline.
For some reason, he couldn’t sleep.
A strange restlessness had followed him all night.
He rubbed the back of his neck, frustrated.
Alexander had built his reputation on discipline and control.
Yet tonight something felt… different.
Like the world had shifted in some small way he couldn’t explain.
He shook his head and walked back inside.
Completely unaware that at that exact moment…
His son had just been born.
And the future heir to the Wolfe billion-dollar empire had taken his first breath.
