Chapter Fourteen

2589 Words
It was in the middle of the night that Elmira had woken up. She was so worn out because of the Gemus inside the Academy who were constantly draining Hazzle’s Qaraths and killing them eventually, but she still managed to stand up and conceal her weariness. The night was silent, but Elmira had felt the danger already coming from the North. She had seen a lot of innocent Hazzles in her head that had been killed due to a massive explosion in the Crymph, just North of the Palace, behind the mountains. Elmira dressed up and got the hand mirror on her bedside table which she hadn't given back to Smith. She opened the door through her veranda and jumped from it. Her two feet landed on the ground of the Palace, safely, as it was the easiest way out from her room. “Where are you going?” Elmira suddenly stopped as she was preparing to stand up, when Alexis had popped out from nowhere, just in front of her. She looked up and saw Alexis in his black hoodie jacket. The two moons of Harzenia were giving enough light to let them see each other in the dark. “Why are you still here?” Elmira asked as she stood up from the ground. “Haven’t you gone back to the Academy?” She added as she’s shaking off the dust in her pants. “I haven’t. You told us to meet the Governors this afternoon, so we did. ” He said, watching her. “Where are you going, and why are you dressed up like that?” Elmira was using her Black Pants and pair of white sneakers and also a black hoodie and a cap. Her hair was high ponytailed and was inserted in her cap. “Are you trying to rob someone?” He asked, not sounding so interested about what she was planning to do, but was intrigued on where she was going. Elmira was just looking at what he was wearing, and observing him as he talked, when Elmira suddenly heaved a sigh. “Come with me.” She dragged him to the back part of the Palace, where there were no lights, and the lights of the moons couldn’t get through. Alexis didn’t argue and just let Elmira dragged her to where she’s going, as he was too bored and couldn’t even sleep as he was being so worried about what was happening inside the Academy, as he couldn’t be there yet. His Parents ordered him to stay in the Palace for a while, as it was not safe there yet, and as Gemus were all over the Academy. He tried to get out of the Palace, but he failed, over a thousand times. “We will go to Crymph.” Elmira said, holding her hand mirror, watching something that Alexis couldn’t even see. “At this hour? You’re mad.” He said, trying to figure out what was happening that Elmira suddenly became so serious, and why did she even think to go to Crymph at this hour. “I know. Drink this.” Elmira handed him a small Emerald Capsule that just suddenly appeared in her hands. “What’s this for?” He asked. He also wanted to ask her where she got the capsule that looks just like a medicine, but he never asked, knowing Elmira, she always does a lot of surprising things that no one could explain, and why does she have a lot of Qaraths in her. “So no one can feel your presence and hear you. It’s dangerous out there. Come on.” He held his wrist once again and dragged him to a door that she had opened. As she closes the door, they have already arrived in the mountain, overlooking the land of Crymph just on the foot of the mountain. “What the f**k. How did you do that?” He asked, looking around him as he was caught off guard from what Elmira had done. He was always calm, but when things that he didn't even know could happen suddenly happened, he's freaking out, although those times were when he was just with Elmira. “That’s teleportation using a door. You must learn that by tomorrow as you already saw me using it.” She said, looking below them. From the mountain where they are standing, they can see the whole place of Crymph. It was a quiet night, and there were just noises of Winxpells inside the forest, just behind them, but it was really a quiet place as everyone was still asleep in their houses. “What are we doing here?” He was already looking at Crymph, observing the silent place in front of them. “There will be a huge explosion here.” She said, with so much calmness in her voice. “Stay Alert.” “Stay Alert. There will be an explosion in the North.” Elmira had relayed the message to everyone in the Palace and to the three Gemus she had contact with. “The shaking will be felt over five hundred miles around the Crymph.” “Wait. Over 500 miles?” Alexis has also heard her message in his head and now he was looking at her in disbelief. “That’ll take the whole Qouatiphus and the Academy. But you’re still that calm?” He said, nearly panicking but still trying to relax himself, and calm just like how Elmira is doing. “And it will probably wash the whole Crymph out.” She said, still looking at her mirror. She was looking for where the explosion would start, but she was still looking for the reason for the explosion, as it can kill every Hazzle residing in Crymph. “What should we do? Are we just gonna stand here and watch?” He said, looking around them. Trying to think of a possible way to stop the explosion she was talking about. “Yes.” She answered, like she was still enjoying the thrill of what was happening around them. “You’re crazy.” He said, looking at her in disbelief. “We should do something.” He said, nearly shouting, but he’s trying his best to lower down his voice as possible as he doesn't still know who was the one behind this. “Do you know any way to stop this, perhaps?” Elmira is now sitting on the grassy ground of the mountain that separates Crymph from the back part of the forest near the Palace. “Look here, Hazzle.” She said, and let Alexis see what she was looking for in the mirror. “This will be where it will start. There were bombs under the ground all around the Crymph.”She was pointing to the places where there were bombs planted under the ground in the mirror, showing it to Alexis. “Every bomb is connected to each other, and when one is removed, everything will explode, and when one explodes, everything will also explode like a domino. So we can't do anything with the bombs, and we just need to let it explode.” She was explaining it to Alexis, one by one, to make him understand the situation they were facing. “So, we’ll just watch from here? Is that what you are trying to say?” He said again in disbelief. Alexis has a high expectations with Elmira, because he had already seen her giving back someone’s Qarath, he had already seen how powerful she was as she can hold her invisibility for so long, and everything he had witnessed from her was out of ordinary, and no ordinary Hazzle can do what she have been doing, even the people inside the Palace can’t do what she can do. But this was just a disappointment for him as Elmira had seen this coming but they couldn’t even do anything to stop it from happening. “We can still do something." She said, which caught his attention. “But it will cost a lot of energy and Qarath.” She added, now worrying about the possibilities that may happen, as she was still in pain, and was just concealing it to be in this place. “Then we’ll do it.” He said, without even knowing about what Elmira is planning to do. Elmira heav a very deep sigh, and stood up. She looked directly towards his eyes as soon as she met his face. “I can’t guarantee the success of this plan, but I will still try.” She said, sighing again for the nth time as it was a very hard decision for her. “I shouldn't be meddling with what your People's trying to do. But for the sake of every innocent Hazzle that will be involved in this explosion, I will do it.” She was battling with herself, but the most important thing for her now, is the safety of all the innocent Hazzles. And that will always be her priority, even if it can cost her her life. “Tell me, how can I help.” Elmira shrugged her head as an answer for his question. “I will try to lessen the impact of the bombs that will strike Harzenia, as we can’t do anything to stop the bombs from exploding.” She said, trying to be as calm as possible, as he doesn't want Alexis to panic. “What are you planning to do? Are you planning to sacrifice yourself?” He said in disbelief as he was looking at her, trying to get her attention again as she was now looking down at Crymph. “I am not trying to sacrifice, and I couldn’t afford to sacrifice myself right now. I still need to clean up the mess of your people.” She said, without looking at him. Trying to get herself ready for what she’ll be doing. “Give this mirror to Smith, for me.” She said, handing him the hand mirror that she had been using. “If something’s gone wrong, He will tell you.” She added. Alexis received the mirror and hid it in his pocket in front of his Hoodie, but he never left his gaze towards Elmira. Although he doesn’t want Elmira around him, he’s still considering her as Rebecca’s savior, and he’s still concerned about her, and her sudden decisions. “I’ll help you.” Elmira chuckled at the thought that Alexis even considered helping her, although he doesn’t really care at all times, whatever may be happening around him. “You can help me, if you’ll just stay here and watch.” She said, trying to make the atmosphere lighter. “And if you can teleport back to the Palace, much better, I know you can do that. You just need to make my mirror safe and give it to Smith. Understand? I’ll leave you here now. Stay safe.” She said, and without waiting for Alexis to react, she disappeared in front of him. Alexis tried to call her, but he stopped, as he had remembered something… “I don’t even know your name, Gemus, or whatever you are.” He said, and teleported back to the Palace before the explosion happened. He hadn't set his foot on the ground of the Palace yet, but there was already an explosion. He had flown and hit his back towards the wall of the Palace due to the impact of the sudden blast from the North. He covered his head as glasses fell down from the windows of the upper floors of the Palace, trying to protect himself. There were loud noises of screams coming from different parts of the Palace, yelling and shouting for help. Alexis tried to stand up, but another explosion had struck them, and then another, like a domino, that Elmira had just told him. He teleported fast in front of the Palace where he was reunited with his Family. There was still an explosion coming from the North, but it was not as severe as the first three explosions. “Alexis!” The Queen hugged him so tight as he was so worried about him as he was not around for the first explosions. She released him fast after noticing something. “Where’s Elmira?” She asked him, looking around. “Jack, have you seen her?” She was now panicking as she couldn’t see her daughter. “Elmira’s dead Ma.” Elizabeth’s world suddenly came to a jolt as Alexis told him that Elmira’s dead. “A long time ago, remember?” She nearly fell down from the ground but Jack caught him on her shoulders, preventing her from falling. “What the heck Jack!” She said, holding her chest as she nearly had a heart attack from what Alexis had told them. It was true that Elmira's dead, but not the Elmira she was talking about. Elmira was dead inside Alexis' mind, but not in the physical world they're living in. “Pa. That Woman with Emerald highlights, wanted me to give you this.” He gave him the Mirror that Elmira had given him. It was still not broken, even Alexis had bumped into walls. “Where have you seen her?” Smith was still calm, and trying to be as calm as possible but he was really dying in nervousness inside him, though he knows that Elmira couldn’t be affected by just an explosion, he was still concerned about her, as he knows what Elmira’s been up to, and how she was always trying to conceal her pain. “On the border of Crymph, on top of the mountain.” He said, and there was another explosion that left them all covering their heads. The grounds were shaking, and the loud thud of explosion was echoing all over the place. The Northern part of Harzenia is constantly lighting up with Red color, as the explosion occurs. The place was still dark as the sun hadn't risen yet on the horizon, and the two moons were the only ones giving them light at the dark place. Smith was already looking at the mirror he was holding while trying to stand still from the constant shaking of the ground. Redina was already sitting on the ground, holding her head as she was already feeling so dizzy as Elizabeth and Jack were beside her, trying to protect her from the falling glass pieces from the windows. The Queen and the King had raised some barriers just near them to protect them from falling debris. And the other Hazzles inside the Palace had come near them as per the King's instruction to make them all safe. “What happened Pa?” Smith suddenly dropped the mirror he was holding and Alexis was trying to give him support as he was suddenly losing his balance. “I… I don’t know.” He said, trying to calm himself. “There was another explosion, near her, and that thing suddenly was burning hot, after the place was eaten by red flame.” He said. His hand’s trembling, and he couldn’t stand up anymore. He’s already sitting on the ground, with Redina, and was just looking at the mirror which turned to a normal mirror that shows a normal reflection of anything. “Something happened… there.” He said, trying to get a hold of the mirror.
