As soon as the guards spotted Luna Seraphine approaching, they exchanged uneasy glances, their bodies instinctively straightening as she approached the doors of Alpha Valrik’s chamber.
The guards stepped forward immediately. “My Luna,” one of them said.
She did not return the greeting. “I am here to see the Alpha,” she said coldly.
The guards hesitated. Then one of them spoke. “My Luna… the Alpha has given strict orders. He is not to be disturbed, and no one is to be allowed inside.”
Luna Seraphine’s gaze slowly shifted to him. “What did you just say?” she asked quietly.
The guard swallowed. “My Luna… the Alpha has given strict-”
The slap resounded through the corridor. His head snapped to the side as her hand struck his face with force, and the other guards stiffened instantly, fear flashing across their expressions.
“I command you,” Luna Seraphine said in a dangerous tone, “to move out of my way.”
No one spoke or dared to move. Then, the guards stepped aside, their heads lowered, and their bodies tense.
Luna Seraphine moved towards the door, her hand reaching for it—
“Luna.” Beta Bane interrupted gently.
Luna Seraphine paused and slowly turned to face him.
“My Luna,” Beta Bane said respectfully, bowing his head slightly, “the Alpha is currently engaged in a private matter that requires absolute discretion.”
Her eyes narrowed. “Meaning?” she asked coldly.
“It would be unwise to interrupt him at this moment. The Alpha made his command clear for a reason. I advise that you allow him his time. If there is anything that requires your attention, I will ensure it is brought to you immediately.”
Silence followed. Luna Seraphine’s gaze lingered on him as she assessed him. She smiled coldly. Her jaw tightened slightly, and her eyes flicked briefly towards the door before returning to Beta Bane. She turned away. But before leaving, she cast them a deadly glance. Then she walked off.
Luna Seraphine did not stop walking until she reached her chamber.
The moment the doors shut behind her, her breath came out in uneven gasps as she swept her arm across the table, sending vases, scrolls, and metal ornaments clattering loudly against the floor. The sound echoed through the chamber, but it did nothing to ease the storm within her.
Her chest rose and fell rapidly as she stood amidst the mess, her hands trembling. “For years…” she muttered, her voice tight with fury. “For years, Valrik has turned me away.” Her jaw clenched as her fingers curled into fists at her sides. “He avoids and ignores me. Without considering my desires.”
Her breathing grew heavier as the thought burned deeper. “And now…” her voice dropped, shaking with anger, “he locks his doors and forbids even me from entering?”
Then, her expression darkened further. “If I find out who she is…” she said slowly, lifting her hands in front of her. Her fingers curled inward, nails pressing into her palms. “I will tear her apart with my own hands.” Her fingers tightened, twisting slightly in the air. “I will rip her apart… piece by piece…”
Her voice was low and venomous with each word. “And she will beg for mercy before I am done with her.”
Her hands slowly lowered. “Whoever she is… she will not survive me.”

In the maids’ quarters, the night was deep and quiet. A faint glow from a small oil lamp lit up the room in dim light as the other maids settled into sleep.
Elira sat on the edge of her bed, her gaze drifting once again to Freya’s empty bed. “Where are you…” she whispered.
Elira lay down slowly, but her eyes remained open, fixed on the ceiling. She tried to stay awake, to wait just a little longer, but exhaustion soon took hold, and her eyes fluttered shut.
On another bed, Neriah lay still, but she was not asleep. Her eyes remained open, staring into the dimness as she turned from one side to the other. Her thoughts refused to settle.
“Freya.” The name lingered in her mind. *Where did she go?* Neriah’s brows slowly drew together as she began to suspect.
“I hope it’s not what I’m thinking.” Her lips pressed into a thin line, irritation flickering across her face before hardening into something darker. “The prince is mine and mine alone.”
Her fingers curled into the fabric beneath her, gripping it tightly. “If I find out she spent the night in his chamber, what happened last time will be nothing. It will only be the beginning.”
Her grip tightened further, the fabric wrinkling beneath her fingers. “I will make sure she disappears from this pack… completely.” Neriah finally closed her eyes.

Early morning light filtered softly into Alpha Valrik’s chamber, the faint glow of dawn slipping through the curtains.
Freya stirred, her eyes opened slowly, and for a brief moment, she remained still as the memory of the night returned all at once. Her breath caught before she quickly pushed herself up as panic followed. “The corridors will soon be busy. If anyone sees me leaving, it will be over for me,” she murmured.
She moved quickly, gathering her clothes and dressing in haste, her fingers slightly unsteady as she tied the final piece into place.
Behind her, Alpha Valrik stirred awake, his eyes opening as he watched her.
Freya turned the moment she sensed his gaze. She bowed hastily. “Greetings, my Alpha.”
Valrik sat up slightly, his gaze calm. “Greetings, Freya,” he replied, his voice low. His eyes studied her briefly. “Why the rush?”
Freya hesitated, then answered carefully. “I need to leave before the corridors become busy, my Alpha.”
Valrik regarded her for a moment but did not press further. He reached beside him and brought out a pouch heavy with coins, extending it towards her. “Take this.”
Freya’s eyes flickered to it before she slowly shook her head. “I am sorry, but I can't accept this, my Alpha,” she said quietly. “What happened was not an exchange. I did not do it for money.”
Valrik watched her for a moment. He lowered the pouch and stood, walking towards a carved stand. From a small ornament box, he took out a delicate chain. Fine, rare, and valuable.
Walking to her, he took her hand gently, turned her palm upward, and placed the chain into it. “This is not payment,” he said calmly. “It is a gift.”
Freya looked down at it, her fingers curling slightly around the chain. She hesitated, but this time, she did not refuse. “…Thank you, my Alpha.”
Valrik released her hand.
Freya bowed once more before turning and leaving, her steps quick. Moments later, the chamber doors closed softly behind her.
Alpha Valrik remained where he stood, his gaze lingering on the space she had just left.

Morning had already settled over the pack when Prince Darius stirred in his chamber.
He was awake before the sun had fully risen, his expression distant. Beside him, a maid still lay on the bed. Darius glanced at her briefly, reached out, and tapped her shoulder. “Wake up.”
The maid stirred, her eyes fluttering open in confusion before she quickly sat up.
“Get dressed,” he said, already turning away. He gestured towards the table. “Take the money and leave.”
“Yes, my Prince,” she said quickly.
She hurried to gather her clothes, dressing in haste before moving to the table to take the money. Clutching it, she bowed her head and rushed out.
Outside, Neriah walked towards Prince Darius’s chamber. *I hadn't slept well, and something had been bothering me throughout the night. I needed to be sure.* As she approached, the door opened. A maid stepped out.
Neriah stopped. Her eyes narrowed slightly as she took in the sight, the maid adjusting her clothes, her movements hurried and flustered.
*The new maid? She had only resumed work three days ago.* Neriah folded her arms slowly, her fingers pressing tightly against her skin as tension built within her. Her gaze hardened as she watched the maid pass.
The maid lowered her eyes and hurried away.
Neriah’s lips pressed into a thin line. She turned her head, watching the maid disappear before finally turning away. As she walked, her thoughts twisted again. *If Freya didn’t spend the night in the Prince’s chamber… then where did she go?* Her brows furrowed as suspicion deepened. *Something wasn’t adding up; I will find out.*

Luna Seraphine approached Alpha Valrik’s chamber.
The guards bowed immediately and opened the doors. “My Luna.” She walked in.
Inside the chamber, Alpha Valrik sat on the bed as his gaze shifted to her.
Luna bowed. “My Alpha.”
He nodded.
She lifted her gaze. “I came last night, but Beta Bane informed me you did not wish to be disturbed.”
“I gave that instruction,” he replied calmly.
A brief silence followed. “I see,” she said, masking the flicker in her eyes.
She stepped closer, reaching out to touch him, but he caught her wrist and gently removed her hand. “I have matters to attend to,” he said evenly as he stood.
Hurt and anger crossed her face for a moment, but it vanished just as quickly. “Yes, my Alpha,” she said smoothly.
As he dressed close to a wooden closet, her gaze drifted to the bed.
Then she saw a faint bloodstain on the white sheets.
Her eyes lingered briefly, then shifted.
Near the edge of the bed lay a small object. She walked closer to it. *A hairpin.* Luna bent slightly and picked it up, straightening as her fingers closed around it.
“My Alpha, I will take my leave.” She turned and walked out.
But as she stepped into the corridor, her grip around the hairpin tightened, her jaw clenching as fury returned.
