Chapter 1: Dauntless has fallen Two centuries later. Alexis Hawcroft Brucie combed her fingers through my hair. Petting it, as I played with my fingers. Brucie was my mistress favorite maid, her hand maid is the word. She took care of me, and even talked to me. Brucie was water nymph, given to my mistress as a favoring gift from goddess Danu. She had bright summer blonde hair, very thick and curly, but not unruly. Her hair's length stopped by her ribs, it was actually longer when she was first hair but mistress made her cut it. Her hair was so thick and full that it breached pass the starting point of her front hair almost breaching her forehead. Brucie had an oval face. Her height was average though when we stood together she reached my ribs. A natural red tainted her cheeks serving as a blush. She had blue ink tattoo starting from the tip of her fingers and stopped at her cheeks. Her eyebrows were fair like her hair. Her pointy long ears sticking out of her full hair. Her eyes were deep black onxy eyes. Her nose small, and lined done beautifully. Her skin light bronze, buy still had a certain hue. Wolves shifter were supposed to be served as pets to the Titans or the higher-ups. The goddess of the moon-- Selene created us for the sole purpose of being a pet. We enjoyed the touch of other, but I didn't. I didn't enjoy someone petting my hair like a damned dog. Brucie was singing as she petted my hair. Sing oh children of the sea. See it is mother Danu that has come to see her children. Dance to the moon because mother has come down from the skies to see her children. Nymphs sing to the melody of the sea because mother is here. Poseidon has nothing on us because mother has come. Oh goddess Danu has come for her children. I stayed quiet allowing her to continue with her singing and subconsciously petting my hair. Brucie had the voice of a seraphim. Well water nymphs did sing better than seraphims. It was a gift and a curse that Poseidon placed on their mother and t descended to the children-- The water nymphs. It was a taboo for a Nymph to sing to the men they love. It drove them mad-- It was why in some territories the water nymphs were called sirens. Their song were lethal to the ones they loved. And singing was basically their life force. It was Lord Poseidon's way of showing the higher power to his lover during the wars of gods and monsters. "Since when last did you wash your hair Alexis?" Brucie suddenly asked. "Awhile" Was all I answered with. "It seems quite rough to comb through. I shall wash it for you" I immediately scooted away from her. I didn't look at her as I said. "I'm not a dog Brucie. Don't speak to me like that, mistress isn't here" I berated, irritated with her choice of words. I had to suffer in the hands of a ruthless mistress with the sickest of desires I didn't need to be treated like a half-wit animal by my equal to. "Forgive me Alexis." She said, but there wasn't much sincerity in her words. Why would there be. I was a pet wolf afterall. I shifted back when a bottled firey balled paper busted into the windows and into the room. My tail riled at the consuming unwelcomed presence. "Rebels!" Brucie yelled in panic. My stomach twisted at that. Rebels! The only force of Rebels stirred at the moment was... Lord Zelos' Army. The ones seeking to destroy the Titans. How could they have gotten this close?! The door barged open. Mistress rushed into the room with her guards behind her. "Brucie! Lexie! We're leaving!" Blood was spattered on her dress and blood droplet rolled down from the small open wound I spotted on her forehead close to the breach of her hair. Brucie rushed up, gathering the hem of her heavy dress. "Mistress what is happening?" Brucie asked in panic. I got on my feet, knowing follow in mistress's suit. "Loki. The damned trickster god is siding with Zelos. Now we have not just the warriors of the underworld against Dauntless but the unholy armies" Mistress explained as we hurriedly strode than the halls. Lord Zelos hated the Respawned Titans for so long. Actually so did Pallas and Styx, but it was always Zelos and the demi-god Attalaus. I supposed there were of a rip off the original and older Titans. But no one ever thought that he would take further than just tauntings from his rebels. Now it was more than the worshippers of Zelos attacking Dauntless but the warriors of the underworld and the unholy armies-- which Loki was the leader of. I could already hear clashing and yelling. My senses as a wolf was heightened so I could hear the gruesome activities going on outside. My heart thrummed at the thought of coming in contact with Zelos or Loki. I didn't know which one sent shivers down my bones more. I'd ever met Zelos once in my life. It was long ago during a council meeting. The court was rising against him for urging his worshippers against the Titans. But Zelos was a daddy's b***h. He was also Hades favorite lap dog, granted Hades was just another selfish god that never gave s**t about anyone, Zelos so much more powerful than the court, thriving from envy, zeal, and jealousy. They could do nothing but fight to push back the Rebels. I'd always thought Zelos was just like the rest of the Titans. He was like any other god, and higher-ups. But the stories that the presence of this castle spoke of him told me he was more dangerous and diabolical than the Higher-ups Titans. It was like that with the sons of gods. The legends said they were all sadistic f**k ups, much like their fathers. And the fact that Zelos and Loki were attacking Dauntless together frightened me to the bone. Dauntless was a Kingdom of love. My mistress was only but a descendant of Aphrodite and the paragon of love for the Elementos. Dauntless was a peaceful city. I was already processing how easily Zelos and Loki would take the castle. Dauntless was a gift from Aphrodite to my mistress. It was not built for war-- therefore the defences were weak. It was only worshippers and full blooded citizens that stay in Dauntless, the city didn't even have that much warrior to its aid. I knew because I'd lived much of my life here. Mistress pushed the secret door open. A passage was now clear for us to follow. Yelling echoed throughout the castle. Rebels were heading our way with guns and machette. Bullets were fired as we made our way inside the passage. Some of the guards stayed outside as we walked in and closed the passage door. The entire passage was pitch black until the crystal necklace on mistress' neck began to glow. Brightening up the way to go. slowly we walked down the path. A guard kept lead and as I thought we'd approach a dead end the guard pushed the door and it pushed back opened for us. I'd spent 2 centuries in this castle and yet I did not know of this secret passage. We walked out of the castle into the darkness of the forest we would face up ahead. As we approached a hill mistress stopped and turned back to her castle with glassy eyes. We could see how torched the city already was. I could pick of gunshots noises, swords slashing. It was absolutely gruesome. Mistress clutched her chest. "I swear by the gods I will make them pay for this" mistress hissed quietly. "Mistress where shall we go now?" Brucie asked in a concerned tone. "The council. We shall seek their help, I will make sure to exact my revenge on that sleazy trickster and little Hades b***h" Mistress answered, taking lead to walk away. Knowing we might never see that castle again had Brucie looking sad, tears had already gathered in her eyes whilst I....I was relieved?
