Chapter 9: Who let Genesis out wild?
Cerberus
Anyone who knew Genesis knew she was never the diplomat. Never one to stop thinking like a warrior, her rage and sadism had guided her through the most glorious battles for centuries.
But when it came to diplomatic thinking there was only one thing she got right, since when I first knew her. She was unpredictable, you never knew what she'd do next.
The fact that she actually agreed with me to see Eurydice after she had so heartily rejected the idea of associating with Eurydice was prove enough.
I for one was all for the idea of protecting the crystal with Eurydice. Hades had always told me and Daeneris of the powers that came from that crystal. Nobody ever really knew what it could do but something even Hades had always discussed with caution about wasn't really something Daeneris and I felt to pay mind to, especially as it's important wasn't shared with many.
Seg was senile, even before he lost all sense and went into true sleep, I'd never understand why he thought it was a good idea to give Eurydice of all his children something that held so much importance.
Then again I knew that not many knew of the unknown power of the crystal.
Genesis broke the silence with a hearty chuckle, "You've finally lost all sense Eurydice."
"The crystal is of too much importance to leave in only my protection" Eurydice replied.
Genesis leaned closer to her with a sinister amusement adorned on her face, "And what is the crystal Eurydice? What is it's power? Why would you want to risk your wings for it?"
"You think Seg told me? I don't know the full power of the crystal all I ever learned was it lead to great power..." Eurydice trailed off, seeming to want to cool down before continuing.
"It's not power that the crystal holds Genesis. It's power that it leads to" Eurydice tried to explain ever so vaguely, and managing to capture Genesis true attention.
"Raaven told me how Seg got that crystal. He explained that it once belonged to Haphaestus when Seg took it a few centuries after the Clash of the Titans" Genesis announced with seriousness contorting in her expression.
Genesis parted her lips to suck in a breath before asking, "You know?"
Eurydice simply nodded at the vague question.
"Can you show me?" Eurydice gave a curt nod to the question.
I watched interested as Genesis got up, striding to Eurydice who equally got up.
She reached out for Eurydice's head, placing both hands on both sides of her head.
A gasp escaped Genesis as all the color in her eyes washed out leaving only the whiteness of her irises to envelop her entire eyes, and slowly the red from her cursed tattoos crept from them to stain the entirety of her eyes blood red.
I was confused as to Genesis proposing and participating in a mind bond. She'd steered from the magic of mind bonds for as long as centuries.
It probably had something to do with her past distresses, and the vulnerability in opening your mind up to another consciousness.
It didn't take too long before Genesis pulled away from Eurydice. I could see a foreign emotion swirling in the n oh e normal eyes of Genesis.
Genesis blinked away from the gaze of Eurydice. "What power is that? What can it do?" Genesis voice strained, like she had to force her words out.
"I don't know. I've shown you all I know Genesis, I don't know where the power is, or what it can do but I do know that I bounded to protecting this crystal from wrong hands, Zelos has destruction in mind"
"Bright Summit has no place in whatever his plans are" Genesis responded but the look in her eyes says she didn't believe her own words.
I hoped that what Eurydice had shown her and the look in her eyes meant she would'nt make any drastic decision today.
"Bright Summit has stood without the gods for centuries, do you honestly believe your city has no place in Zelos' plan?"
Genesis shook her head. "I'd kill him before he thought of hurting my people"
Eurydice huffed at that. "Did you not feel the power I showed? Something is coming. This crystal has the power to unleash great power into the world!"
Fire flared in the eyes of Genesis as she looked up at Eurydice. Never mind whatever hope I had in store.
I'd seen the fiery look in her eyes before, and I was well aware of what it meant.
"Do you think you can lure me into helping you with paltry mind tricks?! Whatever power that crystal unleashs neither of the two bumbling idiots will have but I shall not hand you my help!!"
Big white wings burst out of her shoulder blades. Her atrocious, mixed aura wafted the air around us. The red tainting her eyes glowed in anger.
The sounds of coughing and wheezing echoed throughout the room. The female servant and the male guard that had stood by Eurydice dropped to the grounds, choking in the air of Genesis aura.
It happened in blur speed, the way Genesis sped Eurydice against the wall.
The male guard attempted to reach out to help Eurydice from his wheezing state.
"Cerberus!" Genesis called out.
I went to grab the male guard that held the leg of Genesis, and easily threw him across the room through the fortified glass.
The pet wolf reached for Eurydice crying out. With lightening speed I caught the wolf shifter that seemed unaffected by Genesis aura.
He thrashed in my grip but was unable to release himself.
"No!! Release me!! Mistress!!" The pet shifter cried out to his Mistress that put on a fight against Genesis.
Eurydice threw Genesis off her but Genesis sharply and easily held her balance on the ground. Her wings flapped forward and the might of the winds it cut through blew Eurydice back.
Genesis whipped her her head to me. "Cerberus weapon!"
I reached out for the axe strapped to my back and threw it to Genesis that with the aid of god-like speed tore the blade of the axe through the torso of Eurydice.
Eurydice's eyes went wide, but a knowing smile appeared on her face, whilst pain and hurt surfaced in the eyes of Eurydice.
Genesis let go of the wooden handle of the axe, then stepped back like a woman dejected.
Eurydice's eyes drifted to the wolf shifter in my arms then suddenly I felt no living energy from her.
The wolf thrashed even harder, growling and crying out but I held in even tighter.
Genesis head craned to me. "Shut that mutt up" she hissed and I complied to her command by plunging my fangs into his neck.
He continued to put on a fight but slowly I felt him relax and fade in my arms, until he was out.
