Amara Okafor adjusted her backpack as she hurried through the crowded campus walkway, trying not to be late for her last class of the day. Her mind was buzzing with assignments, work shifts, and the ever-present worry about bills. University life was exhausting, but she loved it her dreams of a better future kept her going.
She didn’t notice the tall figure ahead until she almost bumped into him.
“I’m so sorry!” she exclaimed, looking up.
The man before her was unlike anyone she had ever seen. Dressed in a perfectly tailored black suit, with dark hair slightly tousled and piercing eyes that seemed to look right through her, he radiated confidence and danger.
“It’s alright,” he said smoothly, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. “But maybe watch where you’re going next time.”
Amara blushed, fumbling with her books. “Yes… I’ll be more careful.”
He studied her for a moment, as if trying to figure her out. “You’re Amara, right? I’ve seen you around campus.”
Her heart skipped. “Yes… and you are?”
“Alex Carter,” he said simply. There was something about his presence that made the busy campus feel suddenly quieter.
Amara tried to steady her racing heart. Why did meeting a stranger feel so… significant?
And as Alex turned and walked away, leaving her staring after him, she couldn’t shake the feeling that her life was about to change.
