Chapter Six: Reluctant Alliances

He initially wanted another model but Ivy was the best to wear his work for now. She has gained fame and is currently people's favorite. As he lay on the bed, he stared at the ceiling, he disliked her. Even though he dislikes her, her modelling his designs would definitely boost his strategy against other competing designers. He turned to the other side and picked up his phone then dialed a contact. "Hey, Mr. Fashion designer. Hope my suits are ready?" A male voice asked playfully from the other line. "They are and what about my rides? Are they in good condition?" Both chuckled. "You can never change, richy. How have you been?" Jared inquired. "I' ve been well. What about you?" "Busy as heck but I'm okay." "You are not planning to miss the show. Are you?" "Yes..about that? I saw that model's post today..what was her name?" The voice said then paused. "Ivy Ashby." "Yes, Ivy! I thought you were only interested in recruiting upcoming models. You don't really have a thing for these flashy and current models. Why the change of mind?" Jared questioned, his tone laced with curiosity. "You are right, Jared. I prefer upcoming and new models for my designs but I guess I'll just say I had a change of mind for now. She is everywhere and I think she's the one I can put my bet on for now." Richard replied calmly as he sat up. "Well, Change is constant. You're right about that. As you use upcoming models, you approach existing models. That's a genius idea." " If you want to watch the fashion show next week, you have to hang up now so I can call my secretary to get the files ready and bring your ass down here to Los Angeles," Richard answered back. "Alright, pal." The call ended and Richard dialed another contact immediately. "Good evening sir." His secretary said politely from the other end. "Eva. I need your help and it's quite urgent." "Alright, sir." "I want you to prepare the fashion show schedule and how much time we'd plan for it this year. Inform Jack to get our designs ready. Moreover, you guys should drive to the hotel bonnet tomorrow." Richard explained carefully. " I understood everything you said sir, but if you don't mind, can I ask a question?" she questioned curiously. "Yes, go on." "Since you requested that we get the outfits that you designed recently ready. You must have talked to the model right?" "Yes, I did. And it's the model you all have been begging for." "Do you mean Ashby Ivy?" She asked, her tone laced with anticipation. "Yes." She gasped softly. "Oh my goodness. I'll get the schedule prepared now." Richard ended the call and then set his phone on the table. He then lay on the bed and closed his eyes gently. The next morning Ivy fluttered her eyes open. She had to go to bed early without eating because of the stress from shooting scenes and modeling Richard's dress. She yawned as she sat up, the bed cover falling on her legs. Suddenly, she heard a knock at the door and combed her splayed hair on her face to the back. "Who is there?" She asked her voice slightly deep from sleep. "It's David, ma'am. You did not bother to come see me yesterday so I've come here to see you." He replied. Ivy rolled her eyes and got out of bed. Her stomach growled as she walked to the door slowly. As she got to the door, she opened it and stared at David who had a smile on his face. "Why are you here? Aren't you spending time with your dear friend yesterday?" She said as she walked into the room while David followed, closing the door behind him. "I know you're upset about not coming to see you yesterday but after talking to Richard, I had an urgent call I needed to attend to. I would have shown up when you were on the set but the call was very urgent. I'm sorry." He replied as he settled on the sofa while Ivy sat on the bed. "It's fine. How was the urgent matter you took care of?" David relaxed on the sofa. "It is fine now. How was your day? Stacy told me you were very busy , it must have been a hassle posing for the cameras for hours." Ivy nodded. "It is. I was so tired that I did not even eat dinner." The door opened and Stacy peeped in, holding an iPad in the other hand. "Good morning, ma'am. I'm very sorry to interrupt but it's urgent." She declared. "What is it?" Ivy muttered as she rested her head on her fist. Stacy walked in, closing the door gently. "Mr. Walker is on his way. His assistant messaged me last night that they would arrive today to discuss some things with you. I think it's a proposal." Ivy raised an eyebrow. "A proposal? From that arrogant man? I'm not accepting anything from him. Just reject it or tell his assistant my schedule is full." "Why? It is a 50/50 success for both of us if you accept it. After all, all you need is to wear his designs." David chipped in calmly. "Nope. I'm not interested." Ivy said firmly. "Yes, ma'am..but what about Edward?" Stacy asked. "I would know how to talk to Edward but I'm not accepting that proposal," Ivy replied and Stacy left the room. "It seems you guys have a thing...he also complained about you to me yesterday. What did he do to you or what did you do to him?" Ivy rolled her eyes as she stood up. "I just don't like him. His aura is off." David smiled then stood up. "I should take my leave. I have to attend to something outside the city. I'll be back by evening so we can discuss well about your day and things youd like to share." Ivy nodded. "Alright, David. I also have to prepare for today's work, take care." He leaned forward and embraced her. "Don't stress yourself, okay?" "You too." He withdrew from her and walked out of the room. Ivy went to the bathroom and freshened up then changed into a crisp shirt and brown jean trousers.
