Veronica Delacour was a name that I definitely hadn’t heard before. I didn’t need to see her clearly to know that the woman standing before me was a vampire. Her mere presence stunk of danger, and the coppery tang of blood hovered over her in waves. Fear spiked in my chest. But I refused to allow her to have an effect on me.
