17Miles came off the phone to Peter after visiting the off-license. He stood on the pavement, staring at his mobile, hoping his words had made sense. Peter agreed to the idea of re-enacting the various ways Lorna may have disappeared. Miles gave him the scant outline for each scene, but even before the conversation had ceased, Peter's imagination took over.
