Sincere
There was a mechanical bull that accentuated all of the girls’ assets. After the bull ride we went bowling and watching Shay bowl was like looking at a rated X movie. This girl has a*s and curves for days, I went through a whole roll of film on her alone. Silas flirted with her like the rest of us, the Sh*t comes easy when she looks the way she’s looking. She wore white on white, had her whole body looking and smelling soft and fluffy.
“Like whipped vanilla ice cream.” Sion appears next to me, talking to himself.
“What?” I look at him crazy. His eyes were on Shay, confirming we’re thinking the same da*n thing.
“I know you see it.” He looked at me and laughed. “Excuse me, I gotta go find my girl.” I shake my head at this weirdo while he looks back at Shay one more time. “Body like a nice glass of milk.” He heaves before walking away. If Sion is saying anything or even looking, this is a real problem. He has never crossed that line with Shay, I just know Silas is dying. After another round of bowling, we go to dinner and place bets on the next game. Winner calls shots for the rest of the night. It was going to be girls versus boys so this should be interesting. After dinner we played laser tag, and Silas finally wished Shay a happy birthday. They were the last two standing and Silas won our bet with the winning shot. Shay had the time of her life but as much as I got on camera might scare her when I show her. The real dirt happened after we left from Epics. Silas’ truth came out and he didn’t care one bit, but Shay will as soon as I get to speak to her alone.
Shay
It’s two months after my party and that crazy day is still fresh on my mind. Thank you, Silas, I owe you one...
I had a party at the arcade that included -aside from the normal games- bowling, mechanical bull riding, and a game of laser tag. At the end of the game of laser tag, Silas and myself were the last two standing, the cheater won. While we were waiting to be let out under the cave, our conversation went from me claiming myself as a "king" in a funny manner, to a huge argument about me not needing a boy for anything. I get where he was coming from, I needed him for simple things like helping me reach stuff that's high up. But I don't think he gets where I'm coming from about me being an independent girl growing into an independent woman and raised by a house full of independent women; get it? independent.
He walked towards me, backing me up against the door as I screamed at him for picking fights with me on my day. I was so heated I hadn't realized he wasn't saying anything back. He just got closer, looking down at me until our chest was pressed up against each other. I got quiet in anticipation of what he was going to say or do. I felt his hand on the arch of my back when he leaned in and kissed me. And as soon as my eyes shut, the door behind me swung open and a staff member let us out of the game room. Silas and I made up by the time we were done playing games. It wouldn’t be the first time but this time, the energy felt different. Later that night is why we haven't spoken. We decided to spend the night at Tina’s house for obvious reasons, we lost the bet. On the way home I sat on Silas lap in the back seat. With my legs going across Sincere's lap I had Sin's jacket covering my legs. It was a thirty-minute ride back to their house and five minutes after we pulled out of the parking lot, Silas was rubbing my thighs. His touch sent chills down my spine and his whispers made me blush.
“Can I touch it?” I couldn't form words to save my life, but I nodded my head, yes as if it was an automatic reaction.
“Open your legs.” He gently slid his hand down my pants grabbing me firmly over my panties, yet his touch was soft. He massaged my pearl slowly before I felt him growing underneath me. My heart is racing a mile a minute now. Progressing, he sticks his finger inside me slowly pushing until two were in me. This feels way better than what he did before. This feels better than my own hand, and we're in a car full of people!
He speeds up his pace. While I can feel how hard he is, I bite down on my bottom lip; praying no one notices. My heart flutters, I feel myself on the verge. I tighten my grip on Silas' arm and bite down on my lip a little harder. I'm grinding my hips into his hand with my eyes shut tight as it happens. When I opened my eyes, we were pulling into their driveway and Silas had an amused look on his face. After we got out of the car he smirked and said "interesting" then walked in the house. At this point I felt a little self-conscious, what the hell does he mean by that?
When I walked in the house, I overheard his father tell him, "your little girlfriend has been calling for you all day" and I heard Silas say, "I'll call her in a minute". I've never been in this position either. I felt so stupid and dirty for being there and doing what I did. What sucks the most is that I was supposed to be celebrating and my heart was crushed. Silas swore he broke up with her the day before, but I didn't believe him one bit at this point. Why would she still be calling all day long if they broke up? He said he's not a cheater and when he called her it was just to tell her to stop calling. I didn't believe a word he said, I just wanted him to leave me alone. The next morning, I called my mom and went home without speaking a word to him. He could have been telling the truth, but I felt like crap and didn't want to hear anything else. That was the last time I spoke to Silas, and the last time I saw him for longer than 60 seconds.
**********************************************************************************************************
Today is Halloween and I let Chrissy talk me into going to a blackout party. I was against it because I didn't like the idea of not getting a clear look at who you're dancing with, but it's not that bad of a scene. I danced with three people so far to all the fast songs. Now that they're playing slow jams, I've been circling the room watching people grind on each other. I saw Silas sitting down with a pretty girl, I assumed it was his girlfriend. I figured with me walking through the crowd in a dark room he wouldn't see me, but our eyes connected. I turned away and walked towards the wall on the other side of the room, shaking my head. Taking deep breaths and giving myself a pep-talk; he's just a boy, you don't need somebody that toxic. What were you thinking to crush on him?
“One dance won't kill you.” He spoke over my shoulder causing me to spin around to face him.
“Aren't you with someone?”
“Not at all”
“Oh,” my eyes scan the room for the girl he was talking to, and I found her dancing for another boy sitting in a corner. “Oh, wow.” The girl was bouncing on a guy in a chair with her skirt up way above her waist exposing herself.
“Don't judge, she's just dancing.”
“Is that what you did with her? Dance?”
“No, she offered, I declined.” I nod my head in understanding. “I guess this means you don't want to dance with me.” He smirks.
“Interesting” I couldn't see much of his face, but I saw his pretty teeth when he smiled. I think he's so adorable but I'm still not gonna dance with him. I walked away without saying another word to him, just like he did me. I circled that place a million times looking for Chrissy, she was my ride home.
“Your friend left about 30 minutes ago.” Silas confirms.
“No, she didn't, why would she leave me?” I check the lot for Chrissy’s mom’s car only to find out she really did leave me.
“She went to hang out with JJ.” Silas says calmly. I'm not mad about not going with her because they're nasty, but she could have at least told me. I start walking towards the exit, “Where are you going?” Silas asks while following behind me.
“Home, where else?” I yell over my shoulder.
“Shay it's after eleven how are you getting across town?”
“I'll take the bus, good night.” I stop to face and answer him.
“you're not walking out there alone. Especially not on Halloween.” I rolled my eyes, I appreciated the overprotective attitude, but I didn't want to be at this party to begin with, let alone be left here, abandoned.
“Look, I'll drive you home.” He gestures towards a dark car. “Then you could go back to ignoring me.” The drive home was everything I expected. He asked me if I was done avoiding him and told me again how he broke up with Alicia before anything happened between us. We both agreed that I may have overreacted before knowing the truth and that we need to talk more than we scream at each other. We ended up catching up and laughing all the way to my house but when we got there…
Tina
“Shawn, why are you pushing this narrative? We’re married and nothing bad happened to us.” We’re sitting in Tisha’s Livingroom with her and Darius. Since Silas and Shay decided it was a good idea to make out on my couch; Shawn thinks it’s time to tell Tisha about Aurora.
“Tina, you didn’t see what I saw. And something bad did happen, the Sh*t got passed down to my boys!” He raised his voice a bit.
“Because you married me? Our boys are cursed because I gave birth to them?” I scan his face for the answers.
“No Tina! Will you stop looking for an argument! Our boys are cursed because of my mistake.”
“What does this have to do with my daughter?” Tisha asks.
“What mistake?” I can feel my breathing get heavier by the second.
“We all have soulmates. Silas and Shay are close, I don’t want him to have to choose between her and his mate when he meets her. That could ruin a lot of relationships and hurt a lot of people.” He explains to Tisha before cutting his eyes at Darius.
“Why would it end badly? What mistake did you make Shawn?” I look him in the eyes waiting for him to explain.
“Sherry! Tina, I had to choose, and I chose you!” he shouts at me, and it all comes back. He left Sherry to be with me in high school, but what does that have to do with anything?
“Do you regret being with me? Marrying me?”
“No honey. You are my calm; I am destined to be with you. My mistake was being with Sherry.” His voice softens.
“Why?”
“Because Sherry is Aurora’s lineage. Shawn stepped out of his path into another and disrupted it.” Darius explains looking as if he knows way more than he’s telling.
“How can dating her for a little while disrupt her destiny?” I know anything is possible, but nothing really gets in the way of fate.
“I used your calling to fix my mistake and it cost us our power.” Shawn says looking at the ground. I us to be able to impact people by making them feel what I feel. I don’t see how he would be able to use that without my knowledge. “You and Sherry both were pregnant at the same time, remember?”
“Yes, I put you out the house. She later miscarried but I didn’t use my callings on her.” I answer feeling accused.
“Not intentionally.” He looks in my eyes before continuing. “I knew your hatred for both of us was overbearing. So, I got her to show up to the holiday party where you were and let you see me rub her stomach. You overwhelmed us with your emotions and Sherry couldn’t handle it. As the night went on and your jealousy grew, she felt it. When I chased you out the ballroom to switch the energy she cracked and got drunk to drown her pain. That night she was rushed to the hospital for mixing drinks and whatever vitamins she took.”
“So, my power was stripped from me because you manipulated me?” He looked at the ground and exhaled.
“That’s sad and all, but Shay isn’t Sherry and I doubt if she cares about who Silas dates. She knows your son is a h*e.” Tisha says bluntly.
“I’m not related to Aurora nor the Hendrix before marriage, so I was confused about it. But now that I know Sherry is, I understand you changed fate by getting her pregnant. What do you expect is going to happen with Silas and Shay?” I ask still not seeing why this had to be a meeting.
“I don’t want him to have to choose between the two if he pursues Shay. And unless they are mated, I don’t want him mixed up with Aurora’s family.” He says cutting his eyes at Tisha and Darius again.
“I’m not Aurora’s family Shawn, but I wish I was so I can zap you out my house.” Tisha says, not liking his tone of voice.
“Aurora is my grandmother, but Shay won’t cast a spell on y’all over a kiss.” Darius says sarcastically.
“Why are you just now to telling me this? And why are y’all talking as if your son is too good for my daughter?” Tisha yelled, looking around the room at all of us.
“I’m not, I just don’t want anyone to get hurt.” Shawn sighs with a serious expression.
“Wait, let’s put everything out on the table so we’re not in here arguing.” I stand in the middle of the room trying to calm everyone down. I have a million questions and I know Tisha does as well.
“Look, it’s not like they’re f*****g, they just kissed and moved on.” Darius shrugs sitting back in his seat. We all go silent when the front door opens and in walks Shay and Silas. They looked at us weird, I guess because we were all staring at them.
“Anyway…” Shay says before grabbing Silas arm and walking down the hall to the back of the house out of our view.
“Sherry committed suicide not long after she lost the baby. She begged Shawn to leave you and couldn’t handle it when he didn’t. Our family had a private funeral that confirmed Shawn’s statement because when he walked in all the lights in the funeral home went out.” Darius explains. “Unless they are actually doing something, don’t call me over here like it’s an emergency. That’s an eight-hour drive and I don’t see nothing wrong with them dating. Losing your ‘powers’ makes you a regular dude like the rest of us.” Darius adds.
“No, it’s not that simple. And now that you’ve told Tisha your part, your a*s is not needed here.” Shawn snaps at Darius before looking towards the back of the house. “Tisha, Sherry wasn’t suicidal after her miscarriage, and she did not beg me to leave Tina.” He cut his eyes at Darius with that last part. “She wanted to be my girlfriend and she said she would turn a blind eye to my union with Tina as long as we could be together. But Tina is my soulmate, and when I told Sherry that she moved on until a month later we found out she hung herself.” He paused and shook his head. “My father was found the next week the exact same way as Sherry, hanging in his room. He was not suicidal either, that was all Aurora’s curse. People die when you don’t follow the path.” He gave Darius a stone-cold look.
“If I’m your soulmate, and we’re married; why did they die?” I ask.
“Because I got her pregnant, forming a new path and intentionally took the life growing in her away from her.” He sighed. “I wasn’t sure it would work but Goddess knows my heart wasn’t in the right place.” He confesses and Darius walks out of the house without saying anything. Tisha follows behind him stopping him before he leaves her yard.
“Look Tisha, you can rule however you want, but I think you all need to keep your hands out of the way. Let whatever is destined to happen, happen. If they follow their hearts, they’ll be fine. Oh, and Shawn?” He looks at Shawn who’s standing in the doorway. “Don’t leave out the fact that your father died because it was his idea to use Tina and rid Sherry of her child. She may not have begged you to leave Tina, but she begged to be with you.” Darius looks hurt talking about his late cousin. I tap Shawn on the shoulder nudging him to go talk to him privately, this was a sensitive topic. Shawn Obliged and that’s when we see the black-on-black car parked out front, reminding us that they’re here. Silas loved taking that car out of the garage, Shawn might as well let him have it.
“What happened Tina? Are our kids related?” Tisha looks at me with a face full of aggravation and confusion.
“No, I don’t know too much about it, but I know Aurora, Darius grandmother and Clifton, Shawn’s grandfather, where married at one point. I believe it all went to hell on their wedding day, but I know they stayed together after that fiasco.” I explain the best I could.
“I’ll give the men a few minutes to talk, but they need to tell me what they know.” Tisha said before looking up at the window to her house. Probably checking to see if Shay’s bedroom window is open. “We can talk out here if y’all don’t want them to hear this yet.” She concludes.
“I think that’s best, until we know what’s what.” I look at the window myself. Not long after, Darius and Shawn joins us again on a calmer note.
