Aurora Everything is perfect, I'm married to a wonderful man with a good paying job. I have my dream career and I'm my own boss! I have anything I could ever ask for, but I feel so empty inside. Against my mother’s wishes, I accepted Mr. Clifton Hendrix proposal. We signed our marriage certificate three months ago. We couldn’t wait to get our dream home together. Today is our wedding and I’m ecstatic to be Mrs. Clifton Hendrix to the world as well. Our marriage won’t be a secret anymore, maybe I’ll feel fully satisfied then. “You can still back out.” My mother looks at me through the mirror. We’re in the church, getting ready for my ceremony “Why are you pushing this? Papa already gave us his blessing.” I look at Mother’s reflection in the mirror. “What do you mean? Why would you want to marry a polygamist?” She snatched me by the shoulder turning me to her. “A polygamist? Clifton is no such thing!” I shouted. “If you knew such news, why wait to tell me?” I question her. “You ran from him for years, what happened?” She scanned my face while holding both shoulders. “Clifton saved my life Mother.” I look her in the eyes knowing she would remember the night those heathens tried to attack me. “No matter what problems we faced, our love conquered over it.” I say calmly as I pull her arms slowly off my shoulders. “He may be a nice guy, but he’s not a good husband Aurora.” She says adamantly. “He will never be a one-woman man.” “If you are so sure Clifton is not faithful, please tell me what woman he is with beyond me.” I ask holding her hand between my two. She turns her head and press her lips tightly. “I see,” I place a strand of her hair behind her ear. “Clifton loves me Mother and I love him. He assured me he was never with a woman intimately pass kissing and I believe him. This is our future; this is our destiny.” I say calmly as the door to my dressing room opens. “How are you sure he is your soulmate?” She asked worriedly. “Oh Mother, leave Aurora alone already. Clifton will play her like the fool she is.” My bitter sister, Catherine, stands at the entrance leaning on the door. I didn’t bother inviting her to my wedding and I wish she didn’t show up. I take a deep breath then lead my mother over to the mini fountain on the wall. Looking down at all the coins people tossed in there, I block out my sisters voice. “Mother, give me your hands.” I say as I prepare to show her my visions. She stands next to me and places her hands in mine. We both put one hand in the water and harness the power as we close our eyes and focus. Snippets of my future flashes in our minds as the fountain water turns sapphire blue. “You see, our family is supposed to be together. Mother, we were chosen; we are powerful.” “Aurora…” My mother looks at me as tears fill her eyes. “Clifton has been seeing other women, he’s not pure like you.” She whimpers even after seeing the truth. “I have to follow fate Mother, you know that.” I take my hands out of hers and walk back towards the shutters to put my dress on. “Maybe fate is telling you another woman is supposed to be Mrs. Hendrix. A strong, pretty woman like me; that would make more sense.” Catherine smirks. I ignore her whole existence and continue on getting ready. They quietly leave the room, and my wedding goes as planned. At dinner, my mother admits she can see and feel the love between us. She still argues that Clifton is not ready, and she doesn’t like how he looks at Catherine. “You heard what she said earlier Aurora. You didn’t leave to the office, so I assume you didn’t sign the certificate yet. Investigate to see if you read the messages correctly.” She insist. “I did mother, I signed the papers weeks ago. Listen, a lot of women are smitten by Clifton and many other men in his family. That doesn’t mean he is with them all and that goes for Catherine as well.” She looks me in the eyes with a determined look. “Okay mother, let’s go to a quiet quarter and ask our ancestors together.” I tell her to calm her nerves. I give Clifton a loving look from across the room and he returns it by blowing me a kiss. With that, my mother and I exit to find a quiet area. We sat for an hour in the grass under the moon to find out we were both right. Clifton and I are fated mates and though I am ready, he has to clean house. This news broke my heart into a million pieces. My mother comforted me and told me what to do to get on the path to our destiny. After fixing ourselves up we rejoined the party, but Clifton was missing. My mind showed me vivid images of what he could be doing, driving me mad. I drowned my sorrows in wine until I couldn’t drink anymore. Later that night, I was escorted home by my guy cousins since I was too drunk, and my husband was nowhere to be found. As if I wasn’t embarrassed enough, my cousin helped me into the house where Clifton was enjoying other women. On our wedding night, Clifton had two other women naked on our couch! The vivid images I saw when I realized he left our wedding was now playing out right in front of me. The rage I felt explode in my heart sobered my mind instantly. “How dare you?” I roared at them like never before. The women jumped off the couch gathering their clothes quickly. My cousin let go of my arm as I marched towards Clifton with fire in my steps. The house began to shake as he stood up fixing his clothes. The shuddering of the house caused the scared women to scream as my cousin shut the door so they couldn’t leave. “Aurora, Stop!” Clifton demanded. His aura fell over me causing me to collapse on the floor, into darkness. I saw the face of a baby boy floating around the darkness before I quickly came to. “Everybody out!” He ordered, making the women and even my cousin jump. I stood up with all my might and slapped him across his face with all the hatred in me. “You will fix this.” I point my finger deep into his forehead shutting him up as the women look on in shock. I turn my attention towards them and nod to my cousin, so he knows it’s okay for him to leave. “You will reap what you sow, only ten times worse.” I say calmly to both women who gasp as my words smack them hard across the face. My words are powerful and true, a gift not many have. After kicking them out my house, I leave Clifton to clean up his mess and go wash the day off my skin. After cleansing my energy, I lie back in bed quietly asking for strength to accomplish my purpose. “Aurora, I lied.” Clifton breaks me from my thoughts with his confession. He’s standing in the doorway of our bedroom, looking confused and ashamed. I nod my head giving him my full attention so he could explain. “I was not a pure man when I met you, I have been unfaithful, and I apologize.” I take a deep breath and a sense of relief washes over me when he tells the truth. “I know,” I answer getting a funny look from him. “I have two questions that I need you to answer right this instant.” I say sternly. “I will tell you everything Doll.” He says walking towards me. “Where you intimate with my sister Catherine?” I ask looking him in his eyes as he sits on the edge of the bed. “Yes, I was with Catherine before you. I have not touched your sister after we got married.” He says with sadness in his eyes. “When were you unfaithful and with whom?” I ask. “The two women you saw were my girlfriends. One of them was the one with me the night we met years ago. I was with her once after you and she could no longer satisfy my needs. I got curious to why, so I got them together to try it out.” He says regretfully. “Where you Satisfied?” I ask bluntly. “No, you’re the only woman who satisfies me.” He says looking me in my eyes. “Well, I will not leave you tonight. You have one week to clean up your mess.” I tell him honestly. I see the midwife in a week to test if I’m with child. Even if I am, I will leave Clifton if he cannot walk our path to destiny. ********************************************************************************************************** For the past week I have been keeping an eye on Clifton. He has gone out of his way to apologize to me for his infidelities. I still want to be sure that I am the only woman in his life romantically. I waited until he fell asleep and went to the backyard to meditate and ask if he has done his part. He has cut off all of his connections with his other women, but they did not do the same. It disgust me the way these women did not care for his marriage. What wholesome woman would want to sneak around with a married man? The next day I met with my midwife and found out I was not with child. Clifton and I repaired our marriage for a whole year before we tried again. Another year went by without a baby. A month after our two-year anniversary, Clifton started to become distant. Early this morning, I asked Clifton for a back rub before we start our day. He willfully gave me one and somehow turned it into a morning of passion. Judging by the way he collapsed on top of me, he had a good time. "how did a back massage turn into that?" I ask, getting out of bed with wobbly legs. "You asked for it, remember?" he replies with a slight grin on his face. "And from the sound of it you didn't want it to end" he laughed. “Clifton hush," I blushed "You wasn't all that good!" I shouted and hurried to the shower before I was late for my appointment. Massaging my body with homemade body wash, loving the lavender scent. Rubbing my body and getting lost in the relaxing aroma. BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! "Girl get out the bathroom you're going to make both of us late!" Clifton yelled from the other side of the door, quickly killing what was going on in my head. "I'm Coming!" I yelled with a hint of an attitude. I love me some Clifton but there is something about him that seems off. I don't know what but it's whatever as long as we are both happy in our marriage. “Why’d you lock the door?” He fusses through the door. Huffing out an annoyed breath, I step out of the shower. Leaving the water running I grab my towel and walk out the bathroom not speaking to him. He needs to get his attitude in check, I’m not going to let him shout at me like I’m his child. He rushes into the bathroom and is out by the time I am done getting dressed. “What is this appointment for?” He ask me as he rummaged through the draw for his clothes. “Look behind you.” I sigh, pointing at the clothes I laid out. “Ahh, thank you Doll.” He came over giving me a kiss on the forehead before turning to get dressed. “This appointment?” “I’m going to see the midwife, remember.” He glances at me confused. “I told you I want to be a Mother, Clifton. We talked about starting our family again.” I walk over to him scanning his face. “Right Doll, I remember. I thought we agreed to wait until after war drafting” He says while buttoning up his shirt. “We stopped pulling out of me a week ago. Hence, what we did an hour ago.” I cross my arms over my chest. Clifton lets out a deep breath before throwing his tie around his neck. “You’re right Doll. I don’t know where my head is right now. Please excuse me, I may be worked up over this meeting I must attend.” He explained as he softly rubs both of my arms. “How about we have a nice candle lit dinner tonight.” He smiles at me. “That sounds lovely.” I return his smile. “And you can tell me all about what the midwife says. Let me know if I have a little Hendrix on the way.” He rubs my stomach showing all his teeth with his smile. I blush at the thought of being pregnant right now. Later that night we had the most romantic dinner I could imagine. I shared the best news possible with Clifton, we’re going to be parents. Clifton seems to want a son more than anything. While I want a little girl, I wouldn’t mind a baby boy. Four months into my pregnancy, I have a vivid nightmare about this evil woman harming my newborn baby. I jumped up out of bed at three in the morning and started gathering all I needed to do a protection spell. I wanted to be specific, so I grabbed my pad and started to sketch a picture of the evil woman. I wanted to seal her photo in the spell to keep her away from my baby. Clifton woke up while I was adding the finishing touches on the drawing. He looked at the picture for two seconds before his face ran pale as if he seen a ghost. My heart became tight at the thought of Clifton knowing her.
