Shay Current Day 2011
After spending the rest of the day watching videos and piecing things together, I felt like I knew everything. We didn’t get up to the pregnancy but there was still a hell of a lot to take in. Silas was M.I.A all day yesterday. I heard him come in after midnight and heard him leave around 6am this morning. Giving him his space is best, I think that’s what we both need if we’ll get through this memory lapse successfully. I don't remember how bad our fights really were for us, being on the outside looking in now. But those black out parties had a way of bringing us together back then. Seeing the young me is so weird, I don’t know what to think of it. But seeing the way I looked at that boy I can’t deny the fact that I was in love with him. I could say the same about the way he looked at me in some scenes. But just like now, Silas had his ways and was hard to read, especially on these videos.
Now I’m getting back to work after the holiday weekend I’m sure these girls at the Studio will have lots to share. I’ve been designing clothes for this curvy women’s line “Dream Plush” for a couple years now. When my old college roommate, Kira, told me about her idea to start the line I jumped right on it and helped her get it running. We’ve been partners adding an extra zero to our bank accounts every season. This last emergency meeting before New Year’s Eve tomorrow should wrap up everything for us. I’m in my office with Kira going over the budget now.
“Guess what I pulled together this weekend Girl!” Kira smiled at me from across the desk.
“You got the approval stamp for our Valentines lingerie edition?”
“Yes, with a cherry on top.” She primped her hair, thinking highly of herself.
“What’s the cherry? The male models?” I glance up at her, pausing what I’m doing.
“Hell, Yes B*tch! Guess Who!”
“Judging by your excitement it must be Michael B Jordan or Morris Chestnut.” I cross my hands under my chin and smirk at her, ready to hear who she got.
“Ooh I wish.” She had a brief look of disappointment.
“Michael Ealy and Brian J. White?” I gasp in shock, mocking her excitement.
“Shut up!” She waved her hand at me as her cheeks turned bright red.
“Well, who got you blushing?”
“Mr. Hendrix himself.” Oh, wow. Her blushing makes sense, those men do resemble the last two names I mentioned, a little.
“Which one?”
“The one who would take me out to dinner and treat me like a lady should be treated, like royalty.”
“Must be a different Hendrix family.” I shrug in jest before I save the document on my computer.
“Don’t play. Sincere took me out just last night and told me he’ll talk to his brother about modeling with him and some of our girls for the Dark Cupid line.”
“What else happened last night?” I raise an eyebrow at her.
“You’re missing the point.”
“No, I get it, that’s great news.”
“What’s the problem?” She slumped in her chair, pouting.
“He has a baby on the way.”
“Look we had dinner, and he took me home, I was gonna invite him in, but somebody was blowing him up the whole way home.”
“Probably his soon to be baby mama.”
“Well, I’ll find out when the time comes.” She huffed.
“Cool, I’m just looking out for you.”
“I know, thank you. Let’s get started on the neon lights in the studio so it won’t be on our to do list next week.”
“Right, this magazine needs to go out before February even gets here.” The faster we’re done decorating the better.
“How was Christmas for you anyway?”
“Nothing worth repeating, it was good though”
“Well okay, you want to go out with me tonight?”
“Where are you going?” I ask while we gather props.
“It’s sort of my second date with Sincere and since you know him it’ll be cool if you came to his brothers grand opening.”
“He has a grand opening?” I ask keeping the conversation going while we work.
“I heard Silas has been working nonstop to open his own nightclub.” She says with her mouth muffled, biting a box open.
“Lituations.” I say more to myself.
“So, you know about it?”
“I heard about it.”
“So, you’ll come?”
“Yeah, for a little.”
“That’ll do. I know you’re not the partying type. I’ll invite Selena when she gets in, that girl loves to party.”
“I know, you might as well count her in already.” Kira is my girl, but she doesn’t know what she’s getting herself into messing with Sin. I tried to keep her away from all this mess but that was hard to do when her and Chrissy were so close in college. Chrissy can’t hold water and loves drama. But until now I was able to keep Selena and Kira away from the Hendrix Brothers. I guess they’re grown now, and they can handle themselves since they’re both dating one. Now I need to find out if Chrissy is going tonight because her and Kira aren’t too friendly anymore. Kira is what we’d call a homophobic person, and I don’t blame her but that ended her friendship with a bisexual Chrissy. Last thing I want is to break up any fights tonight especially when Chrissy finds out Kira is dating Sin. Of all people why Sin? Why?
Later That Night
When we arrived at Lituations, the line was wrapped around the corner. You could only imagine the looks half of the da*n near naked b*tches on that line gave us when we walked past them to enter. Now I’m standing at the entrance with Sin, Kira, and Selena; taking in my surroundings. The club is nice as hell, and it’s packed. Whoever the DJ is has this place jumping. While Selena keeps Kira occupied, I take this time to talk to Sincere and find out what the hell he got going on.
“Is there anything you want to tell me?”
“Yes, you look delicious, I’m sorry I didn’t say it before. You’re really lucky you’re my sister girl, da*n.” He smirks.
“Thanks, but no thanks, I’m talking about Kira.”
“I almost forgot y’all were partners. What about Kira though?”
“Let's start with remembering the relationship Kira has with all of us since college.” He looked at me like I was talking nonsense.
“So?”
“What’s up with you and Chrissy?” I jump around with my words.
“Where are you going with this, I’m confused.” Sin turned to face me so he can focus on what I’m saying.
“Why are you dating Kira knowing she’s already beefing with Chrissy?”
“Who the f*ck said I was dating Kira?” He leaned down as if he was stunned.
“She told me y’all had dinner and you invited her here as a second date.”
“She’s my client, we met over dinner, and I didn’t invite her here.”
“Seriously?” I looked at him with suspicion.
“Why would I lie to you? She must have heard me tell Cynthia that I was coming here when I dropped her off home. She was in the car quiet as a mouse when I was on the phone.” He explained.
“That is crazy… Wow.”
“Girl why would you believe that?”
“Don’t act like you don’t have a rep.”
“Okay, Okay, but I did not get at that girl.”
“So, why would she lie, this is crazy.” I look over at Kira trying to come up with a reason, but I got nothing.
“You think? I don’t know, but I’m going to find out.” Sin says.
“Keep me posted.”
“Sure thing, she’s your crazy friend.” He shakes his head. After another ten minutes we finally made our way around the whole club seeing every part of it except for the back offices. As soon as we made it to the dance floor the DJ was playing my song. I don’t drink unless I have to and tonight, I didn’t need a drink I needed to take Selena’s advice and get on the dance floor. I made my way around the dance floor twerking and whining on a few men, none that could keep up with me sadly.
“Selena, I'm tired of dancing with groping pigs.” I made my way to the bar walking behind her. I’m trying not to kill her vibe since she seems to like the attention she is receiving.
“Two shots, on me and wait for another hot song. If you get caught with a pig we’ll go, deal?”
“Deal.” I took two shots and watched Silas and his assistant talk. I watched her rub his shoulder more than once since he’s been standing with her. She was a tall, skinny, dark-skinned girl with long black straight hair that came down to her mid back. When they finished up whatever paperwork they were looking over she hugged him and held onto his neck for a little minute before walking away. I stood up to get ready to leave when Chrissy ran up behind me and started swaying side to side. I paused to listen to the song that played. ‘Ying Yang’ is booming through the speakers, I don’t even remember walking to the center of the floor. But here I am twerking on a man who’s being held up by one of his friends.
The DJ rewind the song and played it over with more bass. I felt hands on my waist pulling me back toward them. I whined my hips, and he met every dip I made. Instead of falling back when I twerk my a*s, he pressed up on me and lifted one leg up grinding into me. The DJ played Murder She Wrote, somehow, we made it to a wall and holding on to the rail I whined on him intimately feeling his member beneath me. I looked back and got a good look at Silas. Slowing down my pace he turned me to face him. As if on cue Silk started playing and he lifted me up with one arm. I wrapped my legs around his waist and began gyrating my hips into him to the beat. With my back pressed against the wall he grinds into me holding my arms above my head. The words to Freak turned the club into a steamy mess and if I weren’t clear headed, I’d assume we were having s*x on this wall. He put me down and I backed him up onto the lounge seat. I climbed on top of him and gave the best slow lap dance I could give. After the song ended a fast song played and I walked away without looking back.
“B*tch!!!” Chrissy’s screech was louder than the music. “If the s*x didn’t bring back all of your memories with him, I bet that dance did.”
“Let’s go!” I shout over the music. She followed me out of the club towards my car. Once we got in, she let out the loudest scream, you would’ve thought she hit the lottery.
“Tell me how you’re feeling!” She shouts.
“The same way I felt before all of this mess started.”
“You’re not his play toy blah blah blah.” She moved her hands like she was holding puppets.
“I’m not.” I started my car and tried to calm my nerves.
“You know it’s not like that, Shay, it never was.”
“Are you sure?” I looked at her in all seriousness.
“Shay that man loved you and I can tell he still does. He’s just Silas and can be an asshole sometimes. It’s not like he hurt you or cheated, he just likes touching you.” She wore a sad face and rubbed my arm pretending to comfort me.
“Chrissy, shut up.” I shook off her hand and rolled my eyes.
“No, think about it, I know you remember how close we all were, y’all always had a thing even when you hated each other.” Her tone turned serious.
“Wow.” I said more to myself than to her.
“I’m serious. Just take a minute and think, we’ll talk when we get to your place.”
“Fine.” I nodded my head then pulled out of the parking lot.
Sincere
After watching Shay run out of here like the camera guy from Maury was chasing her, I knew it was time for me to step in. It’s been a minute since we’ve all really sat and talked about anything with them. We thought giving them time to get to know each other would be good for them. Sh*t if you ask me, it worked. Last time I was at Shay's apartment they were knocking boots, on repeat. Now I thought that would be the problem solver and all their best memories would come flooding back, silly me. But I was wrong because before She got to the club, Alex had Silas undivided attention. She’s his new event manager/assistant. Before I say anything, I’m going to find out what the hell is going on. I didn’t expect him to be with Shay, fall in love and marry her or anything like that. But I never expected him to be in contact with Alex, what the f*ck?
Silas hugged the girl before making his way towards me. The way she threw her body into that hug told me she’s f*****g him again or she really, really wants to. If he is, I hope he’s done messing with Shay. If Shay even feels like he’s playing her, she’ll make both of them pay. Shay is the Devil when she’s mad and I hope he at least remembers that. He Stopped on the side of me and put his coat on before checking his phone. If his screen wasn’t tented, I’d probably get more answers. Guess I better start asking my questions now.
“You ready to go?” He asks without looking away from his phone.
“Everything all good here?” I looked around the club.
“Yeah, they’ll lock up when they head out.” He looked around the club then at me.
“Okay, so where are we headed?”
“What do you mean?” He looked at me with clear eyes.
“Are we going to Shay’s or are you gonna chill with Alex?” Getting right to the point, per usual.
“Man, ain’t nobody thinking about either one of them.” He shrugged his shoulders and started for the exit.
“Where are you going than?” Now I’m the one that’s confused.
“I’m going to Shay’s to sleep in the guest room. She was so generous to let me stay in.” He said casually.
“Oh, not her bedroom, that she was also so gracious enough to let you play in.” I mocked him
“Whatever, man.”
“What’s up with Alex?” I waited until we were in my car before I asked him about her. I don’t know what his game is, but I don’t want to be wrapped up in any drama involving Shay. We don’t know how much she really remembers or what she knows. Her past is rocky as hell and that girl has encountered a load of pain. The last thing we need is for him to throw salt on an open wound when he only remembers certain chapters and not the whole book.
“She needed a job, and I gave her one.” As if it was really that simple.
“When did she reach out to you?”
“I ran into her on the strip about a month ago.”
“How long y'all been f*****g?” I look at him to read his energy but he ain’t giving off much. If I wasn’t his brother, I would be stumped.
“Why the f*ck you want to know?”
“Chill bro, you know I’m just looking out for you.”
“We hooked up twice about a week before Christmas and once last night.” Last night? What the hell did I miss?
“That’s your girl or…?”
“Nah, I ain’t gonna f*ck with her like that no more.”
“Because the way you were on Shay on the dance floor said otherwise.” I joked with him to try and lighten the mood before I asked him if He even knows Alex the way we all know Alex. The way he used to know Alex. “What happened with Alex, she loose?” I ask, assuming he’d tell me if he doesn’t care.
“Ha, Nah, she good. At least she was the first couple times even though it took a minute.” He finally relaxed. Now I can talk to him, at least figure out where his head at right now.
“That’s normal for most girls, ninja we’re blessed and cursed.”
“Yeah, I know. But the last time I wasn’t feeling her at all. I wanted it bad, but she couldn’t keep him up and she got in her feelings. Everything was a dub that night.”
“This is before or after you slept with Shay?”
“This was yesterday.”
“24th to 26th, Shay and 28th Alex; copy.”
“You marking the Sh*t on your calendar?” He looks at me weird.
“Nah, but um, do you remember knowing Alex?”
“A little, I Know we were cool. She is a good person now if she wasn’t before.”
“Ight we’re here. Do me a favor and don’t answer any of Shay’s questions regarding Alex if she asks until I get back here tomorrow.” I warn him as discretely as possible.
“Why not?”
“There is more to that chapter in your life then you care to remember right now.”
“Yeah, Ight. That’s one way to bring in the new year.”
“At least you’ll know more about yourself.” I smirk as he leaves.
