“Perhaps that was not the brightest of moves,” Alex remarked his eyes narrowed. He tapped the fingers of his paw against his crossed arm as he scowled. “I have been in this tower many times, but this is the first time a monster has not pressed the attack. I am positive we can all agree that if she had attacked, we would have been annihilated.”
Woofie growled. “I don’t like this, it sounds like a trap. Dusty, you can’t go. You’ll be at risk.”
“I have to,” Dusty replied with a shake of his head. “You guys don’t get it, but I can’t ignore her after all she said.”
“And what if she’s the one that created the illusion in the first place just to lure you to her lair?”
“We’ll never know if we stay cooped up in here,” Dusty challenged. Before either guard could stop him he threw the doors open
