Chapter 2

988 Words
When we’re finally inside the car I explode. “That ungrateful mutt!” I hiss, baring my canines. “After everything I did for her, she has the audacity to try and challenge me? Because of a mere beta, a man, who works in finance!” “Caroline you need to calm down, people are watching. You can’t lose your composure in public.” Aurora tries to calm me down. My jaw tightens but I try my best to control my raging emotion. After a few deep breaths I feel my canines begin to retract. Aurora and Dixxy both exhale, feeling me calm down a bit. I let out a humorless laugh. Imagine giving up all your wealth for a man? Making enemies with the most influential people you’ll ever meet in life, only because of a man. Meralun was only 21 when she came crawling to my door. She had nothing, absolutely nothing. I gave her everything she has, the connection, the opportunities, the fame and wealth. It was all thanks to me. And now she’s comfortable with that life she tried so hard to get away from? “Call Andre, tell him to cut all ties with Prime empires.” I order them as my nostrils flare. No one moves. I look to Aurora who was closest to me and raise an eyebrow. “Did you not hear? Or are you deaf?!” It takes a moment for her to gather her thoughts before she replies to me. “That’s quite a lot Caroline, if you withdraw your contributions Meralun’s company would plummet.” She tries to explain the obvious to me. “ What a shame that would be.” I say looking from her to my phone in her hand, my request crystal clear. She makes the call and I sit back waiting for the magic to happen. This will be a message to anyone who dares cross me. As I lay back with my eyes closed I can’t help but replay the incident that happened just by the exit of the club. The inept imbecile. As much as I’d want to say it doesn’t bother me, it does. Kilos hadn’t stopped growling at me all night. There was something about that encounter that didn’t sit right with me. I don’t remember his face or what he wore but I do remember those intense brown eyes and how it held so much emotion. The fact I even remembered anything about him disgusted me. Kilos growled again and I knew what would fix us then. “Take a detour to the brothel…I need to let out some steam.” I needed to let out some steam, and what better way to do that than f**k your stress away? ————— I never quite understood which was better, getting f****d or knowing that the one doing the f*****g was still very much under my control? There was something about that perfect blend of pain and pleasure. Something that soothed my mind and body. “Angg..” the man behind my ass moaned with every thrust. “How are you always this tight?” He moaned. I don’t respond to him. I’ve always hated people that talked too much during s*x. Why is that being normalized? Just then the second guy I ordered for, walks in. The one behind my ass stops thrusting. “You called the two of us?” I could hear the amusement in his voice. The second one crawls to the bed already taking off his harness. My phone rings. You’ve got to be f*****g kidding me. I reach for the phone and the boy stops thrusting. I slowly turn to him, an eyebrow raised. “I never told you to stop.” I inform him. His mouth opens a fraction then he closes it back and continues his movement, but I sense some sort of hesitation in his thrusts. “Say it.” I command the other person behind the phone. “It’s one of your ports in Genoa.” Dixxy’s voice comes through the speaker. “Someone tried selling out your information, an attempt to reroute your shipments.” My eyes narrow slowly. This gets my full attention. If there’s one thing I hate more than disobedience, it’s betrayal. This night couldn’t get any worse. “Name.” “ Adam Stanford.” Of course it’s an American. I don’t even know why I recruit them to work for me in the first place. “Hold the fort. I’ll be right there.” “There’s something you need to know, Caroline.” She hesitates. With the flick of a finger I dismiss the two boys. “What?” “It’s just….his background is sketchy. And it seems like he’s a double agent. He’s working for someone else, Caroline, and I’ve checked. It’s not any of our rivals in Italy nor the human world.” I frown, my eyes narrowing even more. “But Adam is human, no?” She sighs in confusion. “Yes, that’s the most annoying part.” “It’s deliberate then, to throw us off.” I put on my suit. I’m more irritated that my attempt to blow off steam was interrupted than the news of there being a mole in my syndicate. “These mole hunters I pay millions for do absolutely f*****g nothing if I have to find these moles out myself!” I grumble already feeling my irritation forming. “Gather the men, I want every available man and woman in the syndicate on duty tonight.” Dixxy grunts in response and ends the call. Who in their right mind sends a human spy to a werewolf syndicate? My syndicate to be precise. For someone to act so reckless they’re; 1) reckless and very stupid or 2) desperate and know something that I don’t. But I won’t wait around to find out either.
