He nodded. I saw it out of the corner of my eye. “I know you love me. But that didn’t answer my question.” I knew that. I didn’t want to answer the question. I didn’t even like to think of it. It hurt to think of it. It hurt everywhere. And so, I lied. Why not? I’d been lying to myself for all this time, so why not him? It was a little white lie. Little and white like Antarctica. “I care for Aaron. I’ll always care for Aaron. But I don’t love him anymore.” And that hurt the worst. Just saying it hurt like hell. Like the wagon had gotten pissed off and ran over me. “I have you. I’m so lucky to have you. I have you, and I love you.” Again, he nodded. Again, I saw it out of the corner of my eye. “Me, too, Eddie.” He turned my way. “Just promise me one thing.” I gulped. “Yes?” He chuckled.
