And so, yes, I held Trevor’s hand and snuggled closer to him and laughed at all of his jokes and stared at him with googly eyes. None of which were forced, mind you, just icing on Curtis’s jealousy cake. Ironically, as my roommate froze over, his boyfriend melted. Seeing Trevor with me, it seemed, finally put the jerk at ease. The enemy, namely me, had been disarmed, neutralized; there was no longer a reason to worry that Curtis would suddenly get annexed. There was now peace in the valley. Or at least an uneasy truce.
