the Pups

I woke to someone taking turns poking my cheek and licking it. I knew it had to be Ernir, no one even dared to do it. No one besides him, and he only got a pass for being adorable and my loving mate. “Let me sleeeeeeep. Poke me again Ernir and I will bite you.” I am completely serious too and he best know that. I know it isn’t time for me to get u since it’s still dark, and I refuse to get up. “OOwww, really. You didn’t need to bite me.” He kept on so I bit him. He got a good warning, but his fault that he didn’t listen. I shrugged and him and rolled over planning to go back to sleep. 

“Wake up, I want to go for a run. I haven’t been in a bit and I know you haven’t either. Come on, it'll be fun.” Ernir of course had other ideas then I do. I wanted to sleep, but Volva needed to be let out a well. Giving up, I followed Ernir to the back yard. I wore an old t-shirt, so I just shifted. Turning to where Ernir was, I didn’t see him. Only for him to appear to my left and knocked me over, before taking off into the forest. Let the chase me on. We spent the next couple of hours running around and playing. Finally stopping by the waterfall on the south side border, we cuddled for a while. This moment has been what I’ve dreamt of as a child, just living life with my mate. 

Hey it’s time to leave. Where are you? We’ve been looking for an hour now. Alexi mindlinked both of us. Sadly we got up to head back to the pack house. We both wanted to stay there, but we have more important things to get done. We’re coming back now. I cut the link not wanting to talk anymore. Sometimes being an Alpha is annoying, I just wanted a day off and to my mate and I. Biting his hindleg playfully, I took off running. I loved doing this with him, life seemed so carefree and easy. I’m beyond blessed with him as a mate. Suddenly I needed to stop and quickly.

Me stopping so sudden caused Ernir to flip and shift. I shifted a well, and ran to the trees to puke. I don’t understand why, but I felt fine before and after. “Hey, are you okay? Maybe we should stay back today.” He is by my side in an instant. Already pulling my hair back, and rubbing my shoulders. “No I’m fine I promise. Just got a bit queasy. Lets go, I don’t want to keep everyone.” I didn’t give him any time to argue before I shifted and headed back. I had a feeling of what I wrong, but it can wait until we get through everything. I come to a stop at the front door, motioning for someone to open it.

Ernir came around the house angry and Dex opened the door at the perfect time. I dashed in and up the stairs trying to get away from everyone. Ernir more than likely figured it out, and he’s angry because I ran from him. I dipped into the closet and heard Ernir come in the room and slam the door. “Do you know?” He demanded an answer, and honestly I don’t know how to answer. With werewolf pregnancies we are only pregnant for four months instead of nine. I have my suspicions that I maybe, but I don’t know for sure. “I don’t know. It’s a possibility, but I don’t know for sure.” I answered back tentatively.

“We’re staying back. Don’t try to argue. We will be going to the pack doctor once I come back up.” He for some reason is in a very demanding mood. I don’t know if I should be worried or not, he doesn’t even seem happy about it. I was already dressed before he left, so I sat on the bed to wait on him. I seemed to far asleep, because I am being woke up with the same poking. Smiling, “Do you have to wake me up like that love?” I rolled over to cuddle into him. We stayed like this until I began to get sleepy yet again. Ernir noticed and raised us up to put our shoes on. 

“I let you sleep until ten. You looked peaceful and I couldn’t bring myself to wake you. I’m sorry for earlier. I am excited for our child, I’m just scared. This little pup will be so important to more than just us and the pack, but the whole world. Also all the things we are doing right now maybe stressful on you and the baby. I just want everything to go smoothly for us.” With that he put on my shoes for me and placed a kiss on my flat tummy. This man will be an amazing father, I had no doubt about that. I couldn’t help but place a passionate kiss on his lips. I am beginning to fall in love with this man. “I love you Ernir. You will be an amazing father and your already a wonderful mate.” I began to cry, while he wiped my tears away.

When we went down, he took me into the kitchen to make some lunch. Surprisingly, he made a large meal for just me. “It’s a tradition in our pack, the male cooks all of the food for his mate and pups. The meal is always take, pork, or chicken and has all the foods needed for both of you. You’ll get used to it, and I hope to carry over that tradition.” This man is absolutely sweet. I plan to make that a tradition in the pack, it is sweet and very honorable in my opinion. I dug in and savored all the food, he is an amazing cook. Me moaning in satisfaction seemed to make him overjoyed. “This is really good, please eat some love.” I didn’t give up until he ate at least a third of the huge plate. 

By twelve we are on our way to the pack doctor, excited to find out if we are expecting. I’m happy with whatever it will be, but Ernir is wanting a boy. The walk isn’t very long, since the pack doctor is in the center of town. “Alphas! Right this way, Sally will be the one over your appointment and if they are a pup, then she’ll be the one over the pregnancy. Just wait here for a moment and she’ll be in.” The lovely nurse led us to a private room. We waited maybe five minutes and Sally strolled in with a huge grin. I knew she’d be excited because she sees me as a second daughter. “I have been waiting for this. You two will be the perfect parents and rules. Your children will carry on the great legacy you have started.” 

She always knew the words that touch my heart. I began to cry while Ernir cradled me like a small child. “Let’s get this on. I wanna know now.” I am eager to know. With yet another grin, Sally rolled the machine over and added the jelly to my tummy. I shivered at the coldness of it. Sally began to move the scanner like thing across my stomach while staring intently at the screen. “Thudup thudup…” The sound is a little soft but is definitely there. I looked excitedly to Ernir only for him to return a shocked and terrified look. Looking at him funny wanting to know what he is terrified over. That’s when I heard it.

“Is that….a… how. I thought it was impossible. I know I’m kind of a wonder child, but how.” I started to panic. These things did not happen in our world. Sally just continued to smile and get even more excited. Ernir seemed to mirror my reactions, though it is comical. “Your right Willona. See this as a blessing. Usually the moon goddesses only have one pregnancy.” She tried to calm me down. I mean she is correct, this is a wonderful blessing. A very very scary blessing that is. We will need to double production on the house, maybe even triple it. I wonder if this pregnancy will go even faster than the others. The heart beats calmed me down, hearing them bring my joy and excitement. I’m going to be a mom, Ernir and I are going to be parents.

“Ernir, this is great. The babies are a blessing love. Their futures will be bright.” I smiled to comfort him, I know it’s a lot to think about. He returned my smile and started to excitedly rub my tummy. I knew that one of the children will be a girl, she will be born first to take over the moon goddess position when it is time. The second will be a male to be able to take over the alpha position of the pack. The third will be a bit of a mystery, as well as their destiny. Having twins is rare with wolves, but tripletes has never happened before now. These children have a great destiny to live and I’m excited to see what it shall be. “They will be my lilti ulfur. I’m just shocked at this.” He still looked a little terrified but it isn’t as bad as it was.

“Come back in three weeks and we will be able to find the gender. I know that one is a girl and the other will be a boy, as for the third one, it can be either.” Sally told us when she wiped off the jelly stuff on my stomach. She gave us a print out of our little blessings. We all three agreed to keep it a secret until we get the gender and make an announcement to the pack. Walking back out we met the same nurse who brought us through. Ernir reminded me that she came from his and I am surprised that she has already gotten to work. I told the rest to take it easy and adjust before jumping in, but I can see their hardworking. We both thanked her and headed to one of the carpenter shops for Ernir. 

We spent the next hour with Ernir making secret plans for wood workings. I knew it had something to do with the triplets, but I didn’t push him to tell me. We head over to the house to see how it is coming along. Upon arriving we can see that the whole center bottom floor is finished and their working on the north wing. The north will be the Alpha section, the east will go to the Gamma, and the west will be for the Beta family. We will all have a shared kitchen, foyer, and family room. This will all be located in the bottom floor, center of the house. I’m beyond impressed with how much they have been able to complete so far. We did add twenty more people to the production crew tho. 

I wanted to check on the new homes being built so we headed to the western side of the territory. Once we go there, I could see that a lot of the huts are here. I noticed that a few families are building big cabins, but keeping a icelandic feel. The children made me laugh, they took perfectly to the many playgrounds scattered through the pack. “They look so happy here. I made a good decision on moving the pack here. Speaking of which, we should head to the south west. More of the pack should be arriving any minute now.” Ernir led me to where we said. We wanted to keep the packs close but a bit spread out as well. I somehow tripped and felt the ground rushing up quickly. The last thing I remember before everything turning black, is Ernir catching me. 

“Beep beep beep.” This annoying sound began to wake me. I tried to open my eyes, but it felt like a weight kept them closed. I tried moving my hands or anything, only for the beeping to get louder and louder. A hand gently clutches my hand, I knew instantly that it is Ernir. With him holding my hand I found the strength to open my eyes. When I did, I am met with Ernir’s smiling face. “How long have I been out ya goof?” Letting out a giggle made him laugh a well. I noticed the dark circles under his eyes and frowned.

“You’ve been out for a week. The babies and you are fine. Something just made you pass out and you just now woke up.” I started to freak out when he said that. The memories started flooding back, and I knew not what caused it but more of who did. He seemed to notice me getting panicked, because I’m instantly in his arms. “Calm down lilti ulfur. The rest of our pack will be brought over in the next few days. We will discuss my sister when your better.” I loved him for taking care of everything, but that’s not why I’m panicked. There’s no other way, but to flat out say this.

“Ernir that’s not why I’m panicked. The reason I was out is due to my mother. She made me aware of a prophecy. Our second daughter and your sister’s fate are intertwined. We can’t do anything for your sister until our baby girl is eighteen. If we do then it’ll cost all of our children and all of the packs. I want to help, but we can’t. I do know that your sister will be mated soon and have children. Their son will be the mate of our daughter. That’s all I know.” He accepted what I told him. I wish we could help, but the price is far to great. I noticed that my once flat stomach is now a bit pudgy.

“Wow, I’m already showing. This seems to be moving a lot quicker. Go get Sally.” I ushered him. I shouldn’t be showing for another week or so. How is this even possible? My mind began to spin with all kinds of theories. Sally came bursting in with Ernir hot on her heels. “Okay so it seems my theory is right. You being of goddess blood is pushing it faster and perhaps the youngins as well. We should be able to know the genders now.” Having the blood made sense, but also my children are all very special. Sally began to bring in the ultrasound equipment which made me laugh. 

“That’s not necessary. There’s two girls and a boy. Mom met with me, it’s why I’ve been out for a bit.” This perked her interests. She started asking me questions about babies. I gave in and told her about the prophecy. “This could be good and bad. Has she told you how it ends? Maybe how things will go for Siggy once she finds her mate.” We hadn’t told anyone about Siggy yet so Sally had many questions. I sadly couldn’t answer all of them, or Ernir couldn’t bring himself to. This is hard on him, and having to sit back and let fate do its will. We will get through this, I know that.

After talking for about two hours, Sally ran tests for another thirty minutes. She released me with directions to take it easy and come for weekly checkups. Thanking her we took off to the pack house. “Ernir. I have a strong craving for steaks. Do you want to go to the dinner?” As soon as I asked he looked completely mortified. Giggling, I smiled up and him. I knew he was to cook for me until the kids are born, but I wanted to play with him. “I swear. Sometimes I don’t know when your joking. Come on, I know a good recipe.” He decided to carry me the rest of the way.

“Mmmm Ernir. It smells good. Hurry we’re hungry.” His cooking is amazing. Smiling he made my plate and his. We argued until he agreed to start eating with me. Tasting a bit, I couldn’t stop the moan that came out. “Wow, is it really that good? Do the babies like it?” He seemed so worried that we didn’t. In fact, this is the best he has made so far, and all of his food is great. Smiling I dug into the bake potato and salad her prepared. This felt great, I spent eighteen years cooking and serving others and now I have someone he cares for me. So much has changed in these past six months. “Hey hey, don’t cry. Is everything okay?” I started to cry while thinking about the past.

“Yes, I’m okay. Just so much has changed. I escaped my prison, found out about who I really am. I started this pack up and found my family members. The best of all is that I found you, and now we have our family. So much has changed in this time. What if I hadn’t escaped, would I have still found you, would I even be alive.” The last part caused him to growl. I know that he isn’t completely over what Mikel has done all those years, but he knows that he regrets it. I kissed him passionately, this man is my everything and so much more. We finished up dinner when I noticed that the house is quiet, too quiet.

“Where is everyone. This house is far too quiet.” Looking up to him, I noticed he wouldn’t look at me. It’s as if he is hiding something from me. I started to panic, what if their hurt. Ernir wouldn’t keep that from me, would he? “Willona. Calm, this isn’t good for the pups. I was hoping you didn’t notice. Everyone is over at the house getting the production finished. With my pack coming over, we’ve gotten a lot of hands. The house will be done by the time the rest of the pack gets here.” He makes me proud to be his mate. He has continued on with it and it’s almost done. I can’t wait to be in our new house.

“Thank you. This means a lot to me. It’ll be done in time for us to be settled in before the munchkins get here.” We kissed for a bit and headed up to bed. It’s late and I need the rest for the day to come. Ernir fell asleep with his hand gently cradling my growing bump. If Sally is right then they will be here in a month maybe less.
