Chapter-6

“Did you hear this? Umm? She is still covering up for you and just look at you! Amy is so nice to you, so how could you be so unreasonable and ungrateful? Huh!”

“Fvck off. I don’t want to see either of you. And here the one who is anything is both of you!” Amber scowled once she finally knew how Nick saw her.

“Don’t be like this, Amber. We’re family. You don’t know how angry grandpa got after knowing this. H-He doesn’t want us to drift apart over a small matter like that. We are sisters Amber!”

She grabbed Amber’s hand, tears flowing freely down her face as she said emotionally, “You should know how much grandpa loves you, Amber. I know I’ve hurt you this time, but please come home with me. Grandpa is going to be sad if you don’t come back!”

Amber felt even broken hearing that. “So you do realize that, huh? You shouldn't have done this if you knew he would be sad. You knew he was my boyfriend from the start. You were even the first person on this whole planet to whom I broke the news about us and yet you took him away from me anyway. You didn’t think about grandpa back then. Don’t you think you’re selfish, Amelia? Or did you think about me? No, right, then why would I?"

“Please, Amber, I beg you. You yourself said that Nick is just your boyfriend. You guys weren’t engaged or married or official, so I thought it was okay to date him.”

“What did you say?” Amber couldn’t believe what she was hearing. She felt like the person standing in front of her wasn't her sister, she seemed to be a total stranger to her. “So that’s how you justify taking my boyfriend away from me?”

“That’s not what I meant, Amber. We just couldn’t control ourselves. You were away for five years so..” Amelia held Amber's hand, persuading her like when they were kids. “You know what grandpa is like, Amber. He said he wouldn’t agree to us marrying if you didn’t come back. Please come back with me, Amber. Tell grandpa you don’t like Nick and have nothing to do with him.”

“Enough. You both disgust me.” Amber did not expect Amelia to be so shameless. Even after she had backed off Amelia wasn't leaving her. “I will not go back. What happens with you bastard have nothing to do with me, so leave. Now.”

Amber pried Amelia’s hand off her, and quickly pulled out her keys to open the door. However, Nick grabbed the handle before she could. He looked at Amber with disgust. “Do you want things to turn this ugly? Can’t we part ways more peacefully and like grown-ups actually do? Do you really have to leave such a bad impression on me? Are you this uncivilized... huh?”

Nick felt heartbroken and looked at Amber as if she was a criminal. “Don’t think I owe you anything. I don’t have a marriage contract with you. We were just a couple for a short span of time. It was never serious and I wasn't in love with you for sure. It was all the attraction phase. Why don't you get as simple as this in your mind? And me being together with Amelia doesn’t harm anyone else. She’s your sister. Why can’t you think for her? You are so petty!”

Amber felt a sting in her heart, and it spread throughout her. She teared up but tried her best to hold her tears back. She glared at Nick angrily. She had not expected the man who once promised her all the happiness of the world blame her for everything in such a degrading manner. Was this the man whom I loved from my youth? Is he even worthy of talking? No, her subconscious answered her back immediately.

“Dive deep and ask yourself, Nick. What did I do that was so wrong that you have to do this to me? You courted me back then, and you said you wouldn’t ever turn your back on me. You both cheated me, lied to me, and now the blame is on me! It hasn’t even been that long since then you called me and said 'I Love You Baby', if I remember it was two days ago, right? And You want me to think of her? What about me? Have you guys ever thought about me?”

As Amber roared at her ex-boyfriend, her tears fell. She slowly pried Nick’s fingers off her and shoved the man away. “So I’m the one at fault here, huh? Not you? Not her? If any of you had even cared about me, you wouldn’t have pulled this today.

You could have told me straight up if you didn’t like me anymore, Nick. I loved you, and cared for you but if you would have told me off I would let you go, I wouldn’t have clung to you. I’m not that kind of person. I loved you enough to leave you.. for your happiness but you played me... And you! Amelia! You say you’re my sister, but what did you do? You could have told me you liked him or anything but you also played me, I would have blessed you if you two truly love each other, since I wouldn’t be standing here if not for you back then. I owe you for life, don’t I?” Amber was a mess of tears when she was done speaking.

She couldn’t understand why they chose to hurt her this way. One was her own sister, while the other was a man whom she had loved for years. They both were the most important person in her life.

“After all these, you both still want me to make your scapegoat. huh! Do you guys want me to relent after making that kind of decision? You want me to tell grandpa that all of this was my fault? You both are equally shameless bastards! How do you sleep at night? huh? ” Shi Nuan wasn’t someone who cried much, but she felt that she had been unfairly treated this time.

“Amber!” Amelia's face turned red with rage but she covered her mouth and cried. The woman looked at Amber and smirked evilly then she leaned against Nick Hudson and sadly wiped her tears. “How could you say that? You’re my sister. Trust me! I would choose to hurt anyone else before I hurt you. Did you forget that I saved you? You might have died if not for me. You know...”

Amber couldn't take it anymore “Yes, you did save me, but does that mean I have to live in your shadow for the rest of my life? or does that mean that I always have to sacrifice everything to you which I hold dearest just because you saved me once ” Amber looked at her sister in disappointment. “Leave. I told you, whatever you want to do is up to you. I’ve already paid you enough for saving my life once which was in first place in danger only because of you. That time also you were wrong but I let it go because we were kids but not this time. Never. ”

Amber slammed the door shut, but when the door was closed, she leaned against the door and slid down to the floor. Behind the door, Amelia kept pounding on the door, shouting on the top of her lungs, as if Amber was wrong here. Nick seethed and very cruelly spat out, “I never thought you’d be this kind of person, Amber Miller. You disgust me.”

Silence finally came for Amber, and she welcomed it gratefully. She sat on the ground, her arms around her legs. She curled up, and the patch of fabric on her knees darkened from her tears. She had broken her brave front once she closed the doors. The tears slid down her cheeks uncontrollably but the pain in her chest was unbearable. She would have never thought that these people would be so brutal.

Amber looked up after a long while, then she got up from the ground in a daze. She had to go on with her life no matter what, she refused to stay down. She would not waste her tears and time on such shameless cheaters.

Her phone suddenly rang. When she saw the caller ID, her expression darkened. “Hey, grandpa. Yeah, I just came back.” She sniffled in an attempt to make herself sound calmer. “Are you calling because you miss me?”

“You silly girl! Of course, I do my little princess ” Old master Miller sighed. “Come back home for a bit tomorrow. Your old man misses you a lot.”

On the other hand, Nick Hudson didn’t look good after being chased out by Amber. His face turned red with rage, he had never felt this insulted in his whole life span and Amelia didn’t look good either. She experienced a surge of emotions and her darkened eyes showcased her inner agenda very perfectly. Before turning to Nick she breathed out , she adjusted her hair. She carefully looked at Nick Hudson, tugging on his sleeve. Pitifully, she said, “What should we do now, ? Grandpa won’t agree to our marriage if Amber refuses to come with us. I told you we should have told her before we did this. She must hate us now. She has always been a headstrong person since we were kids, so she won’t bow to anyone. I want to be with you, Nick . I don’t want to get separated. I really love you 'Nick.” Amelia leaned into his embrace and cried like a little girl.

Nick Hudson frowned, then he patted her back to console her. The modicum of guilt he had toward Amber had disappeared and changed into disgust. “Don’t worry. I won’t let Amber separate us. Our families have agreed on our marriage, so I don’t care even if your grandfather disagrees. My family will accept you.”

She smiled after Nick made his promise. She held his arms and stood on tiptoe to kiss him. “I love you,Nick.”

“I love you too, my baby!.” Nick held her tightly and returned her kiss passionately.

A long while later, they parted reluctantly. Amelia blushed as she leaned onNick’s chest,

she smiled cruelly. Look, Amber! The man you love most has become mine.
