Amber didn't sleep well throughout the night. Waking up, when she saw herself in the mirror, she was stunned that how pale she looked, and how bloodshot her eyes were, she sighed and splashed some water on her face. She felt as if her reflection was mocking her, she held the counter and looked at her reflection sadly. "Wake up, Amber. You can get over this. You can't do this to yourself, you deserve much better than this." Amber started giving herself the motivation to cheer herself up. She carefully applied some makeup on her delicate features. She didn't stop until she was satisfied that her gloominess was all covered up. When she saw her grandfather calling her again, she frowned, but still quickly picked it up. "Hey, grandpa. Good morning." She cheerfully wished him. "Don't act all chirpy! I asked you to come back today. I hope you haven't forgotten about it." Old master Miller scolded Amber. Though he was old but his voice still held the dare to defy aura. Amber was stunned to hear him say that. She smiled sadly. "Grandpa, I... Oh, fine. I'll come back, alright?" Amber looked at the phone in frustration. A while later, she sighed and left her home with her handbag in hand. Amber was planning to go to work, but after what had happened over the last two days, she changed her mind. She wasn't that strong after all. Instead, she went to the nearest supermarket to purchase something, then she went to her grandfather's home. It had been five years since Amber left the city. She had been busy in her further studies and jobs all this time and never came back, but she would occasionally talk to her grandfather on the phone. Amber was still worried when she arrived at the doorstep. It's been long. She stood there until Jenny, the housekeeper, came to open the door. "You're back, young miss. Why are you standing there? Come in. It has been so long since I last saw you! You have grown so beautiful in these year." Jenny ushered her in, and she smiled. "But you haven't aged a bit old lady." Amber teased Jenny who in return slapped her on her shoulder." Jenny smiled heartily and informed her " The master has a guest today" " A guest?" Amber asked. "What guest? I thought he said—" Before she could finish, her grandfather said, "It has been a long time since you visited me, Amy. Have you been busy lately?" Amber was holding something in her hand, so Jenny wanted to take it from her. When Amber looked up, she saw a man sitting in the living room. His back was facing her. However, that man looked familiar, so that puzzled her. Where have I seen him? Connor Miller smiled at Amber, but when he saw her gift, his face fell. "You shouldn't have brought these things here. I have everything I need. Don't waste your money while you are young." Even so, he had Jenny take it away. "Come here. I want to take a look at you. Huh! you look so bony!" Amber rolled her eyes at her grandpa's remark and handed the gift to Jenny and settled herself comfortably on the couch beside her grandpa. "It's been so long, grandpa. I miss you so much." Amber hugged his arm like a child and swung it. "Did you miss me too, grandpa?" She spoke in a babyish voice. "Liar." He smacked her head. "If you have missed me then you would have come earlier." "Pull yourself together. I have a guest here." Old master then turned his neck and introduced the guest to her."Let me introduce you to her, Zachary. She's my granddaughter, Amber Miller. Amy, this is, Zachary Rodriguez." Amber's surprised gaze gave her away as she blurted, "Why are you here?" Zachary turned around, looking handsome as usual. He looked at Amber meaningfully. "Hello, Miss Miller. Nice to see you." Old master Miller arched his eyebrow, then he looked at them skeptically. "You know each other?" Amber panicked when she noticed how her grandpa was looking at them, so she quickly said, "We met this once. He helped me when I got into trouble, didn't you, Mr. Rodriguez?" She glared at him. Amber kept hinting at him with her eyes to watch his words. One wrong move and you will be sliced! Zachary smiled and ignored her threat calmly. "We did meet, sir. But with how energetic she looks right now, I think she must have gotten over it, no?" Zachary smirked playfully at her. Amber gnashed her teeth and squinted at him angrily. This f*cking guy! Old master Miller understood what he was saying quickly, and his expression froze, but he snapped out of it quickly. "She just came back from abroad, so I think she's still adapting to the jetlag. Since you're here today, Zachary, why don't you stay for a meal?" He then called Jenny over. "Amber and Zachary are going to have their meal here today." He ordered Jenny to prepare the meal for them. Jenny had been working here for years, so she knew what Old master Miller was thinking. She squinted her eyes in pleasure. "Yes, sir. Enjoy your chat with Mr. Rodriguez and the young miss." Amber looked at Zachary while her grandfather was talking to Jenny. She couldn't understand how Zachary would know her grandpa. As he can read her mind, he smiled at her. "You seem surprised to see me, Miss Miller." "Of course I am. Who wouldn't be to meet an asshole like you?" Amber sneered. She couldn't believe it, for Zachary. Zachary arched his eyebrow, but he did not answer her. "Don't you think you are speaking too much? And speaking of this asshole..." Zachary pointed his index finger at himself, " will be your husband" Zachary replied. Amber bristled, wanting to retort, but she was out of any comebacks. She glared fiercely at him. Old master's eyes gleamed, then his gaze flitted between Zachary and Amber. "She's the girl I've been talking to you about, Zachary." Connor Miller praised his granddaughter, and Zachary agreed. Whenever he glanced at her, Amber could feel her skin tingle. "Alright, you guys have fun. I am going out for some time. I have some important work to do " Connor Miller patted Amber's head lovingly. "He's our guest, Amy, be a good host and take care of him for me." Connor Miller left before Amber could refuse. Amber wanted to follow him, but after she glanced at the unmoving Zachary, the woman sat down reluctantly. "I've never heard my grandpa talk about you, Mr. Rodriguez. How do you know each other?" He squinted. "Is that so? But Old Master Miller always talks about you." Zachary replied. When he stood up and sat closer to her, she scrambled backward in shock. "Stay away from me!" She looked at him angrily. "I thought you said you don't know me quite well. So we should sit closer and get to know each other quicker, no?" Zachary smirked. His eyes went to her soft petal-like lips. His pupils dilated looking at her. "We shouldn't let your grandfather down , you know." He whispered in her ear in a hoarse voice. Amber's breathing quickened. He was so close to her that she could feel the heat radiating from his body. "Why you..." Amber blushed. Now she knew why her grandfather called her back. She would be an i***t if she didn't get the message by now. However, she didn't expect her grandfather to be in such a hurry. She only had a breakup, then what the fuss in all about! Also, of all the men he could have found for me, he just had to get Zachary Rodriguez. This guy! She had just refused his advances yesterday, but her grandfather was already trying to matchmake her him today. It would be a lie, if she says, she isn't attracted to him. I don't even know what he thinks about me! "Don't take this the wrong way. My grandpa's just doing this for fun. He's bored, you see. So, don't take it too seriously." "Don't you think it's hard to breathe this way, Mr. Rodriguez?" Amber felt hard to breathe. She placed her both hands on his chest in attempt to push him away "Can you at least have some shame and keep some distance between us?"
