Chosen Mate

When I arrived back at the party everyone was pretty much the way I had left them. I saw Samuel with Row chatting and laughing away. Then I noticed a pink haired girl glaring at them like she was trying to burn holes into their faces. Thats weird.

“I’ve been looking for you.”

I turned around and saw Jack holding two glasses of something.

“It 's Iced tea.” He said, handing a glass to me.

I took it and thanked him.

“So where were you?” he asked taking a sip of his tea.

“I was exploring. The forest is amazing.”

I looked into the crowd and found Dean almost instantly. He had made his way to Sam and Row.

I guess he decided to come back.

He turned to me and we locked eyes with each other. He smiled and I felt a slight heat rush up to my cheeks. Why was he smiling at me?

“Hey can we talk?”

Jack asked, recapturing my attention.

I turned to look at him, “Aren’t we talking?”

He walked closer to me and whispered in my ear.

“A little more privately.”

I turned to see Dean and saw his facial expression was a worried one.

Was he listening to my conversation with Jack? Damn Lycans and their hearing. I turned to Jack and smiled, “Lead the Way.”

He took my hand and began walking away from the party. I took one last glance towards Dean and I could tell he was not happy.

Jack guided me towards the woods again but instead of going left we went right this time.

The path took us to a part of the woods that looked like it was used for ceremonies. There was benches carefully placed in a circle leaving an empty circle in the middle. We continued walking leaving the staged area behind.

“Where are you taking me?”

“Relax we’re almost there.”

The path led us through the trees until it looked like it was coming to an end and i began to see a smooth hill appear.

I stopped in front of it and looked at Jack.

“Really?” I asked.

“Come on its worth it.”

I shook my head not believing I was gonna walk up this hill in sandals.

I walked up tryinng not to slip down.

We reached the top , i could see over all the shifter territory.

With the darknsess of night the lights of the town looked like stars and we were above them.

“Wow” I said admiring the view.

“Its bigger than I thought.”

“Not as big as Hecate.” He highlighted.

“Well it’s not a contest , is it?” I said looking at him.

“Oh no, you’d win no contest.” He stated.

I rolled my eyes shaking my head as I continued looking at the view.

“Today s my 38th birthday.” Jack out of nowhere said.

“I …know.”

“My council has notified me that findng my mate is urgent now.”

I could imagine he’s 38 now and still mateless, and like I said having an Alpha couple is essencial for every pack.

“I hope you find her.” I told him being 100% sincere.

“I think I have.” He answered.

“Really? Wow thats great , is she here?”

He nodded while walking towards me.

“Why didnt I meet her?” Why were we here alone if he found his mate? Wouldn’t she be crazy jealous?

“Because I haven’t told her yet.”

“What? You found her and didn’t tell her? That makes no sense.”

He took my hand , “Genevive I want you to be my mate.”

“Not this again, we’ve discussed this.” I told him.

“No we haven’t. I flirt with you and you very effectivly ignore me.”

I pulled my hand away from him.

“Because it’s useless. I’m not your mate and besides I dont feel that way towards you.”

“Ok , now you’re lying.”

“Really now?” I answered starting to get annoyed.

“Back in your office we had…”

“We had a what?” I interuppted.

“Exactly! What was that?! Because for a moment you seemed at ease in my arms and then … I dont know what happened.”

“Alpha….”

“Damn it it’s Jack!”

I inhaled deep and relaxed. I was not ok with any male yelling at me esecially for no damn reason.

“Jack, I understand you’re desperate to find your mate. But you need patience she will come and you’ll forget you ever had these thoughts about you and me in your head. Trust me.”

I began to turn away.

“I already found her!”

“I told you already ,I'm not her.” I said, trying to make him understand.

“Not you. My fated mate.” He almost whispered.

“What? But you just said …”

“I know, I found my mate but I don’t have a mate anymore.”

Oh Goddess he didnt .

“Wait. You found your mate? Your fated mate? “

He just nodded slowly.

“Did you… rejected her?”

His facial expression answered my question.

“What did you do?” I huffed out.

“Gen…” He tried to touch my shoulder but I pushed him away.

“WHAT DID YOU DO?!”

“I dont understand why you’re so upset.” He said confussed.

“Do you believe in the Goddess?”

“What?”

“Do you believe in the Goddess?!”

“Of course I do.”

“As someone real and alive?”

“Yes.”

“Then how could you do that?”

I was shocked and so afraid. What if the Goddess believed I was responsible for ruining a fated pair. What if she believed I wanted this?

Jack took my face in his hands.

“Listen to me Gen, I don’t want a Fated mate. I want you.”

I freed myself from his grip and stepped back.

“Don’t say that! Go find your mate and beg her to take you back. I can't give you what you want. I won't. A mate is a gift from the Goddess and you spat in her face by rejecting her. I will not be an accomplice to that.”

I began walking away again and Jack stood in front of me trying to get me to stay.

“I mean it Alpha, back off!”

I stepped to the side and tried to get away but he pulled my arm. He turned me and pulled me close to him, landing his lips on mine. I was so upset I used my hand and with my power threw him a few feet away.

“STAY AWAY!” My voice echoed.

He looked at me shocked . I had never used my power on him so I caught him off guard.

I rushed back to the path and made my way back to the party.

I didn’t want to take my sisters away from their fun but I had to get out of here.

I looked everywhere trying to find Sonya when I felt a hand on my lower back.

It wasn’t Jack because this hand was cold.

I turned around to find Dean holding me.

“Come on, I'll take you home.”

“I have to find Sonya, we have to get out of here.” I said, trying to sound ok , still shaking from how pissed off I was.

“ I already told Sam and Row I’m taking you home,they’ll let the rest know. And Sam and Josh will make sure they all get home safe.”

Why was I even considering leaving with him?

I couldn’t answer that at the moment but I was.

I nodded and he walked me towards his jeep and opened the door for me to get in.

Dean’s POV……….

I watched her walk away from where we were sitting beside the big oak.

“Hey, when are you gonna tell me what favor you want?” I asked.

She looked back and shrugged, “When I need one.” and kept walking.

It was a sight to watch her leave , her hips swayed from side to side like branches on a tree on a windy day.

She was a beautiful woman, dangerous but beautiful.

I could hear the music and laughter of the party.

I should go back and face the music, I can’t avoid parties forever.

I got up and walked back to the house. Sam was standing with Row and Lucia . Sam and Row looked happy but Lucia looked like someone had killed her cat.

I know she has a thing for Sam and for a while I thought he did too, I guess I was wrong.

I walked over to Sam and tried to ‘mingle’.

I looked around and saw Genevive, Then I saw Jack walk up to her. What the f**k did he want? My eyes caught Genevive’s. I smiled and saw her blush. I cheered internally, so this woman does have a softer side.

Of course I decided to listen in on their conversation.

**“Hey can we talk?”

“Aren’t we talking?”***

He walked closer to her and whispered in her ear.

**“A little more privately.”**

She better say no I thought to myself.

I was staring at her waiting to see what she would do.

Then she just agreed and walked away.

It pissed me off.

I was suddenly in a piss poor mood. People were talking around me but all I could think about was, Where was he taking her?

“Dean….Dean . You ok?’’ Sam asked.

“Yeah, um I’m going for a walk.”

“But you just got back.” Sam pointed out.

“And now I’m going for another one. Problem?”

He shook his head and I was off.

I followed her scent down a path , she had a faint scent of lilacs.

I finally caught up to them and made sure I stayed behind a lavender patch. So their scent could mask mine.

They were on top of a hill and Gen looked upset.

If he hurts her I’ll rip his lungs out, I promised myself.

I used my hearing to hear what they were talking about.

*** “Back in your office we had…”

“We had a what?”

“Exactly! What was that?! Because for a moment you seemed at ease in my arms and then … I dont know what happened.”

“Alpha….”

“Damn it it’s Jack!”***

I growled and wanted to pounce but I held back. I couldn’t let them know I was here.

Me spying on them would not look cool.

“I already found her!”

“Did you… rejected her?”

“What did you do?”

“Gen…”

“WHAT DID YOU DO?!”

“I dont understand why you’re so upset.”

Jack had his hands on her again and it drove me crazy.

**“Listen to me Gen, I don’t want a Fated mate. I want you.”***

Of course you do, you Loser, I thought.

***“Don’t say that! Go find your mate and beg her to take you back. I can't give you what you want. I won't. A mate is a gift from the Goddess and you spat in her face by rejecting her. I will not be an accomplice to that.”

“I mean it Alpha, back off!” ***

Then he pulled her and forced himself on her . I jumped up and about to make my appearance when I saw Jack fly across the hill.

“STAY AWAY!”

I heard a voice echo in the trees. I looked at Genevieve and her eyes were glowing and her hands were on fire, purple fire.

She didn’t need me to protect her. Like I said, beautiful but dangerous.

She walked away more than upset and I ran back to the party before anyone knew I was there eavesdropping.

I spotted her , she looked lost. Like she couldn’t believe what had just happened.

She doesn't need me to protect her , but maybe she could use a friend.

I know Lycans and witches are a no no and I don't have friends. But I have never met anyone like her. More than anything I was curious.

I linked Sam, “I’m taking the Master to Hecate. Make sure her coven knows and that they all make it home safely.”

I ended the link and didn’t let him answer back.

I walked up to her and when my hand touched her back she didn't flinch like most girls do.

I convinced her I would take her home. I’m not sure how, it’s obvious she doesn't like me all that much , but she agreed.

I opened the door and she got in.

When I got in the driver seat she looked small, hurt even.

“You can relax now Master. You’re safe.”

She looked at me knowing I knew what had happened but not sure how I did.

She just nodded and sat back letting out a long sigh.
