[P.O.V. Kendrick Ryans]
Sitting out on the backyard patio. Reading a contract for another company. That wants me to sign. Doing so, having a smoke and a scotch. This month has been crazy trying to find the right woman to take as my wife. But I found her, the perfect woman to be my wife. The only thing I can do now is wait for her answer. The work-week starts again tomorrow, and I'm hoping she will have her answer. Typing on my computer. My best friend, Nolan, takes a seat in front of me.
"So this is where you have been hiding. Not only are you hiding, but you're smoking and drinking hard liquor," Nolan says, a little sarcastically. Leaning back in my chair, taking another drag.
"And your point?" Asking him while I let the smoke out of my mouth.
"Come on, man, you don't drink the hard stuff unless something is wrong. What's going on?" He takes a seat from across me. Sitting sideways with his arm resting on the patio table.
"If I wanted to talk about my feelings. I would go to a therapist."
"That is understandable but I'm better than some therapist. Is it the whole wife thing bugging you? Shasa, your Tuesday girl, sorry, ex Tuesday girl. Told me about how you told her and the other girls. You had to get married. Because of this, you had to end their s****l business contracts."
"It's not like I have a choice in the matter." Mumbling under my breath. While giving an eye roll.
"So it is true? I was gone for two months to Hawaii. Finishing business for the company. And you're here at home getting ready to get married." He says, a little amusingly. Grabbing the extra glass on the table. Pouring some bourbon in it.
"Nice to know that my struggle in this makes it fun for you."
"It's only funny because I can't see you as a marriage type. Who, the lucky girl?" He takes a sip of his drink.
"Jennifer Ross." Nolan spits out his drink as it sprays everywhere. Then he looks at me with a serious look.
"Wait.. wait.. you picked your secretary? Why would you pick your secretary?" Giving him an evil grin like I was some genius. "I know that look, and you have a planned, cooked up, don't you?"
Leaning forward in my chair, putting my cigarette out in the ashtray. Telling him my plan about why I chose Jennifer Ross. It's not only because of her beauty, and she would make a good s****l business partner. But because it's difficult being a Ryans with riches and popularity. There are people out to destroy you. Some of those people are the paparazzi, reports, personal enemies of the family, or simply enemies of your own. Because of this, I need someone that can deal with the pressures of being a Ryans.
"Even if she says yes. Remember, she is still a woman. Most women like that romance stuff. That they see in their chick flicks. All I'm saying is don't hurt her. Remember that not only will she be your s****l business partner, but your wife. There are things and duties only a husband can provide." Nolan says with concern and fact.
"I'm fully aware." Telling him bluntly, The rest of the time, we talked about his business trip to Hawaii.
{P.O.V. Jennifer Ross}
Today is Wednesday. I have decided to make Kendrick Ryans chase after me. Before I give him my answer. I need to know how badly he really wants this deal. This week, it has been working. I flirt a little, and I can see his responding to it. The only thing about my flirting was he hasn't really been flirting back. Maybe he was not used to the woman making the first move? Or maybe he doesn't know how to really flirt? Or maybe he's not serious about this deal. Like I thought he is? Cass keeps telling me not to give up. To see how far I can take it till he cracks. Then I will see how he truly feels about this deal and me.
Putting on one of my best black bras that really makes my breast look fantastic. Wearing a white cream-colored dress that shows my cleavage and hugs my curves. Grey jacket and heels to go with it. Putting my hair up so it couldn't cover any cleavage. Once ready for work, I was out the door and headed to work. To tease Mr. Ryans some more.
All morning I have been flirting with Mr. Ryans. Now we have a lunch meeting. Walking into the conference room. There was a beautiful dark blue glass conference table. With a really nice black office chairs around the table. There was a wall filled with huge tinted windows. Taking the files out of my arm, I place them on the table, giving each spot a folder. Making sure there were clean glasses. And the water pitchers were full in the middle of the table.
Everything was ready for the meeting. Looking at the watch on my wrist. The meeting started in five minutes. Taking off my jacket and placing it on the chair I will sit in. Mr. Ryans walks in along with Nolan Brackets. He's the Vice CEO when Mr. Ryans is gone on business trips. Or go on trips to fill in for Mr. Ryans. Mr Brackets is the second command of the company. His correct title is called COO, which means Chief Operating Officer.
Following behind them were some other gentlemen. That came to talk about a deal to make with the company and Mr. Ryans. The same men that Mr. Brackets went to talk to in Hawaii. They all took their seats as we start the meeting.
"Gentlemen, thank you for coming today. This is my secretary, Miss Ross. She will join us today to help us document anything from today's meeting." Mr. Ryans introduces me and takes a seat with me following. Once seated, I get my laptop out, ready to type anything they need me to.
They all start talking about this great deal, Mr. Palakiko, the Hawaiian CEO. He wants Mr. Ryans to sign on with him. In his hotel business to help him not go bankrupt. In contrast, Mr. Palakiko explains to Mr. Ryans why he should help him and what he gets out of it.
Making sure Mr. Ryans could see my cleavage. And I know he could, for he kept glancing over at me. Then I would try to play a little footsie with him. By acting like I was switching my leg to sit on top of the other. Using the tip of my foot, I graze his leg a little. Then I would rub my hands on my legs. Mr. Ryans wouldn't glance over at me anymore.
Not getting the reaction that I want. I would flirt a little with Mr. Palakiko's board members. Did I enjoy acting this way? No, not really, but I wanted Mr. Ryans. To show his true feeling about the deal he wants with me. I wanted to see if he was dead serious about marrying me or if it was just a joke. At the end of the meeting, we all shook hands and said our goodbyes. Once everyone was out of the conference room. Mr. Ryans calls me to his office.
Walking into his office, he looked really annoyed. Mr. Brackets hands a file to Mr. Ryans and leaves. While leaving, he gave me a look to let me know I was in trouble. Swallowing hard, I continue my way into the office.
"You asked for me, sir?" Asking him the best I can without breaking down from the intimidation coming off him.
"Have a seat Jennifer." He says with a dark voice, a little deeper than normal. Mr. Brackets closing the door behind me. Walking further into the office. Taking a seat in front of his desk. I felt like a kid sent to the principal office. He leans back in his chair. "Did you enjoy putting that little show of yours on?"
"Excuse me?" Acting like I was dumb.
"Your show that you put on in the conference room? Flirting with the Hawaiian board members and also me."
"It wasn't a show."
"Really? in all the years that we have worked together. You have never acted like that. You were unprofessional today, so tell me, Jennifer. If that wasn't a show, then what was that all about? In fact, you can tell me what has gotten into you since Monday."
"Nothing has gotten into me."
"Then tell me why you have been nothing but a tease these last few days?" He asks more demanding.
"Excuse me? Tease?" Why am I getting so defensive? I know why it's because he drives me crazy!
"Yes, Tease. Ever since I asked you to be my wife. You have acted like some crazy, immature girl. So tell me, what the hell is going on with you?" Getting out of my seat. I walk towards the window a little and look back at him.
"Fine! I could have behaved a little better. I just wanted to know if this deal you offered me. Is real or just some stupid joke? So I have been flirting to see how much this deal actually means to you. But every time I flirt with you. I really don't get a reaction out of you. Beside you, giving me lustful glances. So I took it up a notch with the Hawaiian board members."
"You thought I was joking about my marriage deal with you?" He asks defensively. He stands up and starts walking towards me. "What do I need to do? Do I have to prove to you I'm serious?"
"Yes, I want you to prove to me. That you were serious about this deal!"
"You want me to prove it, then I will!" Grabbing my wrist, he pulls me to him, slamming his lips on mine.
