Alice opened her eyes and closed them immediately as the sun assaulted her eyes. She opened them again and stood up straight.
This isn't my bedroom
My head hurts... Alot.
"Good morning Angel" A woman said. Alice turned my head towards her.
"who are you? where am I?" Shw looked around for any sign of familiarity. There were none. The room looked ancient like it belonged to someone in the victorian era.
"I'm Mrs Bates. I'm the head house keeper in this house and I take care of everything else. You must be hungry love. I'll get you something to eat" She coddled. This woman was chubby and she wore a long dress that swept the floor. She reminded Alice of Lola. The only difference was her old english accent.
"Where am I? Is Cal outside?"
"Oh dearie I have no idea who Cal is but you can ask the master... After you eat of course" She furrowed her brows at Alice in pity and continued picking up old draperies the floor. Alice guessed she was going to wash all of those.
"Thank you for the offer but I really need to get home. I need to see my father. Do you have a phone I can use?" Alice asked and Greta looked at her like she had no idea what the lady was talking about.
"A phone? I don't think we have one of those. oh but you can ask the master after you eat, he knows everything. I'm sure you'd love the mast-"
"No! Go get your Master this instant" Alice demanded. Greta sighed and dropped the draperies.
"He doesn't like being disturbed." She said sternly and walked out of the room.
That's when she noticed her clothes. She wasn't wearing the same dress I had at the gala. she got off the bed and walked to the large mirror.
Alice stood in a white sundress. Her hair fell at her sides, my curls were a mess. She tried to fix them up by detangling it with her fingers but gave up when she began to look even more deranged.
She touched her forehead. There was no scar or marks from the incident last night.
The door opened again and the house keeper came back in. She wasn't smiling anymore.
"The Master says he'll only speak to you when you have accepted his kind hospitality and fed yourself" She stated, walked over to the draperies and picked them up in one scoop before walking outside the room.
She walked to the window, it was dusty and old. It was difficult peer out to see what the outside environments looked like. She tried pushing it to open, it didn't budge.
"Great. I'm stuck" She exasperated.
"Those windows have been shut since forever. My apologies milady" She turned to see a tall, skinny middle aged man in a suit standing holding a tray in his hand.
"Are you the Master of this place?" Alice questioned with a curious look on her face.
He chuckled and settled the tray on the beside table. "Goodness no. I'm his Butler, Owen" He noted. "Greta asked me to bring this to you. The young master will speak to you only after you are satisfied. I'll see you around Miss..."
"Alice. Just Alice" He smiled a toothless smile and exited the room.
The smell of whatever was under the covering of that tray filled my nostrils and my stomach grumbled begging me to eat. She opened it, Toast and scrambled eggs perfectly arranged on the plate.
Alice didn't even have the time to take in how well put together this breakfast was, She put in her mouth and ate until she was full. As she took the strawberries and at my last bite, the door swung open and a girl around 11 or 12 popped in cheerfully.
"The Master will see you now"
Alice cringed at how everyone in this house referred to him as "The Master". She couldn't even begin to imagine what he looked like. So far everyone she had met in this house seemed strange enough.
The girl dipped outside again and walked out the door. she was greeted by a very long hallway and even longer stairs. The house looked regal and even more ancient. There were paintings, sculptures yet not a single picture on these brown and white walls.
"Right this way" The girl chirped and skipped up the stairs as she walked. "I'm Lily. What's your name?" She turned to her and walked up the stairs backwards.
"Alice" She replied.
"oh like in the books Master has? you're going to love it here at the Manor and you'll love the Master even more. He's a teeny bit difficult at first but when you get to know him, you'll love him just as much as everyone else in the Manor does"
"Oh. I don't plan on staying. I'm leaving once I speak to him" She corrected. She paused and tilted her head at the weird woman in the room.
"Leaving? No one leaves the Manor" She stated. Alice ignored that statement and she proceeded with her stair skipping.
"How many people are in this place?"
"I have no idea" She giggled and we arrived at an enormous door. She did a soft knock with knockers and the door opened up.
She stood at the door as she walked in. she turned back to her and she waved. The door closed back on it's own and she let out a breath she didn't know she was holding before walking forward.
It was a library. A ridiculously large library. The kind of library you could get lost in.
Beside the window sat a very quiet man, he seemed focus on his book. Alice realized, he was the only person dressed in modern clothes.
He lifted his head and it felt like time froze. He was the most beautiful person she had ever seen. There was this dark mystery lurking around his darkened eyes. His hair was pitch black and slicked back. A couple strands fell to his face. He was the sexiest man she had ever seen in her entire life and then he opened those beautiful lips and said the words that rung in her head like cymbals.
"Come"
And so she did...
