  Present Time   “F-k,” Yelena pinched her lip between her teeth. “Up the stairs, third door to the left. I’ll send someone up soon to check on you.”   “Thank you, lass,” he put his hand on the small of the woman’s back, and her elbow in the other hand and started helping her up the stairs. “Could you send up some wine and refreshments? The children haven’t eaten recently,” he added over his shoulder.   Yelena looked down at her dress, and reconsidered the fragile, expensive dresses that Sylvin had brought her… But one of those would not have survived the wagons.
