CHAPTER 02: Kate and Chloe

I dropped at my bed and get my phone as I began texting back to Chloe.  "Hey BFF, I'm up. Got some news?"

It's been so long since I've talked with Chloe. Ever since mom and I handled this big project I never got the chance to speak and update things to her. It is not necessary though, I have many friends here in the Palace and the in the other native places but I can only consider one person whom I can say "Sister from another mother" and that's going to be this girl.

Finally, Chloe texted back and said "Hey, It's been so long. Do you mind that we should call each other?"

"I don't mind at all. You can call any time you want" I uttered. 

"Don't you think that it's not safe for you to do that kind of thing? I mean you know... Royal Rules" She quotes

"You know that I do not abide by all the rules of our family. Most especially if it conflicts my interest." I responded

Chloe hesitantly said "I know Kate, but this one's kind of a big deal. Your parents don't even know you have a phone with you. Sorry, I'm just concern about you. You know you'll be punished hard."

"It's fine. Don't worry about me. " I smiled  "Can you just call now?" I added.

Few more moments, my vibrated as I see the name "BFF Chlo" on my screen. I had to do things perfectly with no mistakes. I have to vibrate or turn the phone into silent mode most of the time, because if someone catches me doing this thing up. I might get be in trouble. 

"Hey," Chloe said, "You sure this is okay with uh?"

I went up to my bed and move towards the windows. I peeked outside and saw that my Heather and Harry is playing dodgeball at the Garden. At the patio, I saw my mother overlooking what my siblings do. 

Confidently, I respond to Chloe "Yeah, I'm pretty sure we're safe." Then I want back and lay down in my bed.

"So what's up? You've got any news?" I added

"Nothing much. I just wanted to check up on ya. You haven't texted for ages Duchess of Edinburgh." She smirked

"You're missing me don't ya? Haha" I joked

"Of course, I am! You're my best friend and I can't imagine how are we like this. You know best friends are supposed to know each other's updates every time." She clarified.

"Don't be childish! Haha! It's okay. I'm sorry that your best friend has so many things to do in the Palace. You know that the King is excited about this project since..."

"Since you are the chosen one to continue the path of the King in his mission. It's not even a big deal but you'll make your parents proud if the mission will be completed. Not only that, you will have more chance to be the first in line at the Royal Palace... " Chloe talked over. 

I narrowed my eyebrows and confusedly said: "How many times again did I tell you that?"

"Nearly 100 times if you wonder," Chloe said

"Ugh" I sighed "Anyway, so that's the goal," I uttered

"What goal?" Chloe immediately responded

"The goal to accomplished the mission for the kids this coming season" I replied

"Okay, please don't get offended with what I'm gonna say," She said "I can't get the point the mission lies only within the grounds of the Royal Palace. Then why consider it as one of the biggest mission?" Chloe added

Straightforwardly, I replied "It's going to be applied in the whole country if this one's going to be effective. We wanted to start the mission of celebrating and gathering families for the kids twice a month because we know "parents" do not have time for their kids now. It's going to be hard. We know that, but all things will be worthwhile if we try. Don't you think it's great enough?" I quoted 

"Okay, That is enough. So what's the problem?" Chloe replied

"Do you want to volunteer and help me out spread the word for this mission?" I asked.

"What!? Are you crazy? I don't even have royal blood!" She exclaimed. 

Chloe and I started our friendship when the public visiting the Palace began. Leonard, King of Edinburgh or should I say my Grand Father, decided to open the Palace for public viewing every summer. I don't know what the exact reason might be but I heard that Grand Pa wants the people to get more involved with what's happening here. 

On the 2nd week of June, it's the 4th time the Palace is opening the gates up in the Public. I saw a little girl whirling around the hallway; playing with one of the royal dogs Gidget. She patted and hugged the dog as if it was hers. From that moment, I knew I've got a friend in that girl. That's Chloe and my own beloved dog Gidget. And then the rest... it's history.

Excitedly, I said "Yes, I know. It's going to be a bit hard. Why don't we try? If that happens, I'll be the one to accomplished that first in Royal History!"

"You've got to be kidding me, Kate. You're eying for the things that are impossible to be met. You're hitting two birds in one stone" She said

"Yeah, That's the main point!" I exclaimed.

Sadly, Chloe said, "I'm sorry, I cannot do that." 

"But..."

"I cannot sacrifice your freedom there in the Palace. I know there's going to be a ground for you if we jump in together with your idea. Please don't get me wrong. Your idea is great for the nation and the Palace. But I think that having me, involved in the project makes you less credible of becoming successful with that. Besides, you know Heather's your number one enemy with this. She might want to drop everything that you put in this project." She explained

"Alright... Alright..." I sighed  "But it doesn't stop me from finding someone to help me out with this project" I added

"Okay, I've got nothing else to say, Duchess. It's your will by the way. Why don't search online? I mean you know Google? Hahaha" She joked.

At a glance, my heart pounded as my eyes went big! I immediately stood up and put the phone on speaker mode "Hey! That's it! Hold up Chlo, I've got you on speaker mode!" I replied

"You got me on what?" She asked.

I grabbed my laptop hidden under my secret drawer at the bed and then immediately set it up. Though I haven't thoroughly scanned this thing, I let Jacob set this up for me so that I'll be able to search for things without any hesitation. "You know what? MacBook is great to use." I said to Chloe

"What do you mean MacBook? What do you mean great to use?" She confusedly asked

"I mean it's a friendly user. I'm able to navigate everything so easily. This thing's amazing!" I happily said

"WHAT!? DID YOU BUY A LAPTOP? HOW COME?!" Chloe aggressively shouted

"Sssh, Sssh, Sssh, Please don't shout you're on speaker mode!" I softly responded

"HOW CAN I NOT BECOME LIKE THIS? LADY, YOU WANTED TO GET INTO TROUBLE DON'T YOU!!" She scolded

"Will you please calm down? It's okay Jacob and I figured out how we can hide this thing up." I replied

"Jacob and I, Jacob and I. Tsss" She hissed

"Don't scold me that way, you're the one who gave me the idea to this one!" I replied

"But you're the one who initiated everything. You do have royal blood. I smell bravery." She jokingly said

 "Now how do you operate this thing and go on google," I questioned

"Hahaha! Now that's the catch!" She laughed

"What!? Please teach me. Please teach me." I begged. 

"Nope. I won't." She said

"Oh well, I have connections anyway. I could just contact straight through our phone Thomas and..."

"Don't ever do that!!!" She shouted once again

"How many times I have to tell you that you are in speaker mode? Come on Chlo, soften your voice" I said.

"Alright, Don't do that. But I'll teach you how." She calmly said, "You are a strong woman!" She added

"Okay, so how?"

She then instructed me detail by detail on how am I supposed to search for this kind of Gadget. Please don't get me wrong, I know that this kind of materials exists on our planet. But we, the royal kids don't have the privilege of exploring these kinds of materials since we are only allowed to carry books everywhere. At some point, my brother and I share thoughts of being deprived of this kind of opportunity. 

I mean, we're humans too. As much a normal kid would love to explore the world, we also wanted to have that kind of moment. That's the main point of my Grand Father's mission. Equality. Non-royal kids would love to bond with the Royal kids whenever permitted. It doesn't conflict with anything or anyone. No gaps, No boundaries, just one big happy and contented nation. 

Well except for my sister Heather, she does appraise the Royal community and abides any Royal Rule's even in the smallest details. But I'm not like that, I believe that we should live the life that we're supposed to have and enjoy it. Well at least...

"Okay and then hit the enter!" Chloe instructed 

"Hmm... Okay... Nope...." I said while scrolling over the possible candidates online. "I don't know that there's a lot of people online!" I added

"You're not even on page 341 yet" Chloe responded.

"Oh!? There's page 341?! I better start this thing off right now!" I said.

"Tss, Silly you! Don't do that. You should only look at the top pages because that's where you...."

"AHA! Found someone!" I talked over

"And who's that?!" Chloe asked

"Ahhh, No... Not the type. Sorry, my mistake..." I said while scrolling down again the results.

Chloe began explaining what should be the traits and characters that I should consider in this position. She explained everything detail by detail. But I am certain that I'm not even listening to every word she's saying. I think I finally found the guy. 

Well, with his credentials displayed in this forum. I think he is qualified to become one of my assistants in spreading the news. As per the details, he's been volunteering to the youth organizations since he was 15 years old! That's amazing! We need that dedicated here in the Palace! 

"Conor," I said 

"Of course, he should have great credibility in terms of... What? What? Conor?" Chloe began asking

"Conor Evans" I seriously replied

"Ahm... Conor Evans who? Is this even a knock-knock joke? You didn't even..." 

"No, Conor Evans he's the one qualified of the position," I said.
