THE BIRTHDAY PARTY

1067 Words
I appeared very much different from every other person, in the plain trouser and a parallel design long sleeve shirt I cladded myself with. The banging beats from the heavy speakers hung on designated areas of the clubhouse greeted my ears harshly, like we were at war. Everyone and every damn thing in and around the house appeared quite different from the normal life I've always had. But it doesn't affect the fact that I have longed wanted this life. The life I have always prayed for, right before me. Linda held my hands like I was a baby that would get lost, if not properly cared for, into a particular section of the house. The blistering lights from the colored bulbs appeared to be more concentrated in this particular section. My hungry eyes caught some naked ladies, wriggling on a pole, like they were trying hard to imitate the serpent. By the corner of the room was James. Some busty lady knelt before him, and his hands placed on her head, like she was receiving some kind of special deliverance. Steve! What's up? James, probed on sighting my presence. Cool, man! I trudged, close to where James stood. Our hands caressed hastily in salute, as the kneeling lady made to leave. I was struggling to blend with the new life. James noticed it. I guess you have never come to a place like this before now, James questioned, almost chuckling at the nothingness in my demeanor. Not at all, man, I blurted as James gestured to an empty seat for me to sit. Don't be hard on yourself, buddy. Feel free and enjoy yourself. You could order for anything. The bills have been taken care of. I watched as James walked back to the stage, the BurnaBoy's song, “Gbona” which was in play when we walked in, is nearing its halt. I lowered my back into the cushion, with no explanation to how I feel or what is going on, on my mind. It didn't take long before packs of small chops and dried meat occupied the center of the table before me. I raised my head to see James giving me a thumb up. Which indicated that the chops were from him. Looking around inquisitively, my mind suggested how beautiful it'd be to have a feminine figure beside me, as most of the guys in the house. I've never had the courage to woo a lady, before, in my life. Though I never thought of it to be a problem, not until now. Could it be true that alcohol really make guys courageous to stand up to any lady they admire? My mind hadn't settled yet from the question on my thoughts before I saw a bartender carrying a tray of drinks. I beckoned on her and took a tumbler filled with red wine. Gulped it entire content at once. My throat didn't seem to like what passed through it. The hotness stirred up a serious cough which lasted for a few minutes. My eyes, now red, caught James's and again, he lifted his right hand and his thumb sprang up. I took another shot, and yet another, all in quick succession. My eyes dimmed, like it was shy and hiding away from public view. The percentage of the alcohol I drank was beginning to take its effect on me. My head felt heavy as Weakness and laziness saturated my entire being. I made to move my legs and noticed that it had become heavy. Totally In an unexplainable state, I cupped my face with my palms. Wiping my eyes with the tip of my finger in a bid to clean off whatever it is that is threatening to cease my sight. In split seconds, like It was scripted, my eyes, even though still dazed, beheld this beautiful damsel. She was cat-walking majestically towards my direction, like she is on a runway. Gallantly built, with a sharp smile that exposed her neatly arranged dentition. Her oily lips had this “special invitation” written on it. Kiss me! Kiss me! I heard it say. The leather shirt she wore complimented her figure, as it accurately detailed the heavy rotund balls on her chest. I have got to make this move, this is my god provided opportunity, I muttered beneath my breath. I dropped my head down to organize myself, and carve out a plan by Which I'd use to win her heart. All the words that crossed my mind, non-sounded convincing enough. I lifted my face, there she is. Besides my table. I sprang to my feet in wanton force, held her by the arm, which signalled that I needed her attention. She turned to face me, I opened my mouth to speak, words deserted me. I felt my heels vibrate. My legs were struggling to carry me. My tummy rumbled in trouble. I felt like to throw up, but I am not giving up on this opportunity. My spirit was willing to tell the beauty standing in front of me, how ravishing her body looks. How joyous my heart would race in celebration, if she becomes mine, and me, hers. I know it is a matter of seconds before my body give in to the pressure of bathing my “to be” heartthrob with my vomit. Just as I made to turn around and empty the content of my stomach, elsewhere, it rained! So hard on the beaut in front of me. I made to apologize, I probably shouldn't have. My feet got weaker, and I collapsed on the angel of my dreams. My efforts to get myself back up, proved abortive. It didn't take long before this rough, hardened hand held the collar of my shirt from the back. I felt choked as the buttons on my shirt, pressed my neck, even deep into my esophagus. I got pulled, back up. Struggling to find my feet, seeking for balance against the hefty figure that lifted me. Kpooaaaaaa... came the sound. It sounded more like a bang from a short gun. I saw shiny little stars, dancing in circles very close to my face. I wagged my hands to catch some, but darkness intervened and chased away the light of the day. Furthermore, I staggered about in question of what could be going on. Oh! My! My world has gone blank.
