AJ's POV I hadn't exactly passed out after my wolf left me. But I had been exhausted enough that it felt especially good to be laying against him. I shuffled closer against Maxx. I nestled myself deeper into his warm, stark black fur. I could no longer feel our mate connection whatsoever. But at least I could be connected to him like this. When I woke up more, it occurred to me that it was strange snuggling up to my sleeping mate, while he was in wolf form and I was not. Not that that was inherently wrong to do—but we had still barely known each other for a few hours. We hadn't had time yet to establish what our boundaries were. Plus, it wasn't exactly fair that I didn't feel comfortable around other shifters, including how hard it had been to get close to Maxx. But, what, it was okay
