Naveen was an opportunist. As a criminal, he knew that the day would come that he would need something to trade with. Maybe it was already coming down on him when I showed up. Whatever, the story ultimately passed on wasn’t about some American getting shot down and caught up in the Afghan civil war. It was a story about a bitter American ex-convict who traveled around the world to join the forces of evil in that fight.
