Planning and Preparation
On the ride back to Maryland, Captain Rogers kept strangely quiet. Finally, she turned to Gun-ho. “Seaman Jackson, I want to thank you for your thoughtfulness. I don’t think I’ve ever met someone as perceptive and kind as you are; I really appreciate you.”
She paused for a moment as if trying to get control of her emotions. “I don’t know what they are planning for you, and I shouldn’t know, but if you ever need anything—anything at all—I want you to call me. I will help however I’m able.”
“Thank you, ma’am. I already have your number memorized.” He smiled.
“Admiral Johnson wants to have lunch with you tomorrow. I’m to take you to the Pentagon. After that, you’ll be assisted by others.”
“What time will we be leaving?”
“0930 to be on schedu
