Chapter Thirty-one Gift of the Sea Gun-ho reached the end of the jetty to the open ocean in the early morning of Thursday, May 21st, 2009. On a smooth ocean, on an outgoing tide, Gun-ho rowed hard to get as far from the shore as he could under the cover of darkness. Jae-sun told him to get as far south and east as he could and that the current in the Sea of Japan would take him where he needed to go. In the dim morning light, Gun-ho felt a gentle breeze tease the hair on the back of his head, just as the sun peeked up to greet him from the water.
