Selena's POV
Karren’s hand was firm against my elbow as he guided me to my chambers..
“You should have stayed in the pack house,” he muttered, his voice sharp with restraint. “What were you even doing out there?”
I swallowed, hugging myself with my free arm. “I… was gathering herbs by the stream. I needed it for myself.”
His jaw worked, a muscle twitching along his cheek.. “And you decided to go alone? What if something had happened to you?”
I looked at him in the eye, “ Then I am glad Darren could save me,”
We were silent, only our footsteps echoing..
I glanced at him from the corner of my eye. His face was locked in its usual mask of steel, but his nostrils flared, his fists clenched too tight. He was furious, not just at me, but at the mention of Darren.
