Selena's POV
I was still in Karren’s bed when I woke up, still wrapped in the scent of him, the heaviness of the night before, and the confusing, tender things that had happened between us.
He hadn’t moved much. His arm was slung around my waist, and I could feel the steady rise and fall of his chest behind me. I really didn't want to destroy our moment, but I felt I needed space.
I shifted gently, and his arm slipped down to the bed. His eyes fluttered open before I could even say anything.
"You're awake," he said, voice still thick with sleep.
I nodded, turning to face him. "I want to go back to my chambers this morning."
His face became pale and I knew he didn't want me to go..
"I just… I need a little bit of space," I added softly. "To miss you."
He smiled. "That’s clever."
