Eventually they came down washed and dried. unlike me Jaina has never let me cut her hair. we started braiding it about 2 years back. it's gotten so long you can see a tiny braiding on her wolf when she shifts.
" ok mama, what do we need to talk about?" looking at her I realized I was about to change her life and I really hope she doesn't hate me for it.
" well we told you about going back to your father, but. there is one more thing. when we get back you are going to start alpha training with your father. as you are his only heir and he needs a successor. " she coughed, face bland we have taught her to hold her emotions. outbursts get you no where.
" and why mama would my father need a successor?" she had figured it out and she was pissed.
I looked over at Jay hoping for some back up. his big ass goofy grin said no way. " because princess, as you are the alpha kings only living child and I am his rightful mate we should be at his side."
she was glaring. there had been lots of questioning at her birth. she had come the day of prophecy many thought her the savior of the land. many thought of her as a weapon to be stolen and trained. so we ran. hidden I the deepest part of Russian forest we spent her first 8 years quietly.
Unfortunately 6 months ago my mate was bullied into finding making and raising a heir. Every one else assumed us dead. it hurt the idea of him with another. After are last conversation it was agreed Jaina and I would quietly come home and settle in. then we would announce everything a few months after.
" Jaina calm down. your wolf even told you about being special. you are smart, fast, strong, and loved. it is time to teach you what you need to know to rule one day. "
being gentle right now would make it worse. she is looking for pity.
"But mama, I have never met him. will he like me? am I going to have to go to school? will I still get to hunt? do we get to keep jay?" all answers I didn't know. she had started pacing, a great trait from me. "most of your schooling is probably going to stay home done" I was trying to stay calm. " your father will like you because you are like him in so many ways. as for every thing else we will have to see."
she rolled her eyes and huffed.
"it will take adjustment my pup, but it is where you are supposed to be. it is were I'm supposed to be. " memory's of my love flood me, but no, emotions are no help here. " we are going and that is that! two days Jaina! we leave that morning."
she shoved herself back and glared, stomping away to her space. she was never interested in the room I had for her. she had built a shed/ tree house out back around the age of 5 and it has grown with her. Taking a deep breath I start preparing for departure. the house and land we have been on has and always will be a safe house. so when we leave it will be clean and well stocked before heading out. I got my laundry clean and out on the line as Jay is walking through the backyard.
"you sir are no help" my voice was strict but my eyes were laughing.
"I'm sorry Luna she glared at me...."
I started laughing out loud. " well your punishment is to find a way to get her all the way there with little to no complaints." he looked at me In disbelief. " I'm serious. go start filling those sheds while you think. I want everything clean and full before we leave. "
"yes luna." the door quietly shut as he went to the back to fill the wood sheds. secluded means no electricity most of the time. so fire heat and cooking it is. lucky for us a tree usually ends up down and partially cut up when we need it.
hopefully the herbs will store well...
the laundry was blowing in the breeze and my chest stopped, I couldn't breathe, there she was the moon herself and just in a flash she was gone
