My heart skipped a beat and I groan inwardly as I took in the crowded street leading to the party Lily describe as a…little birthday party? The music was so loud and people were all looking wild, filling everywhere with different outfits. I scrunch my nose as the smell of alcohol, vomits and cigarettes filled the air.
More like a club night.
I wonder if they are all werewolves or mixed considering the fact that their facial appearance looked normal and carefree. Hell, how would I know? Normal humans and werewolves looked the same, I honestly can't tell them apart. Just that werewolves are literally… godlike and beautiful. I admit it.
Either ways I feel somewhat terrified that I'm about to party with a large sum of strangers. I'm no saint. I partied back then at high school but never have I been to a party with a person I barely knew. I don't even know where the hell I am. Lily was dressed in a red top, black skirt and a black leather jacket with knee length black heels while I wore a white lacy top and skinny jeans with white sneakers.
There's no freaking way I will wear heels to the party.
I grab the edge of my top at the side as anxiety starts to crawl up my throat. I've always gone to a party with familiar locations but here I am, standing beside Lily who I just met yesterday and agreed to follow to a party I have no idea where the hell I am. My guts tells me this is a bad idea. I mean— you never know what to expect from strangers. Few hours earlier, when she came to pick me up, we had sneaked out of the training pack to the party, careful not be seen by anyone. I didn't want any word to get to the Alpha that I went to a party.
Yes, I had decided not to let him know. He won't have say in life just because he's some stupid mate. Now thinking about it, I have a feeling I made the wrong decision.
I turn to Lily to declare my change of mind and wanting to go home but then, before I could open my mouth, I was being pulled through large crowd of bodies. I held in a breath as Lily and I walked to the house. It was a white mansion and people moved in and out like termites.
Still holding my hand, I noticed Lily walking steps slow down and I shot her a glance out of the corner of my eyes. She tried not let it show but I could see she was also nervous. I bit on my lips and hesitantly, I squeezed her hand gently making her eyes dart towards me. I let out a small smile and she nervously returned it with a nod.
We got to the large doubled doors entrance and a strong smell of alcohol, sweats from bodies and.. vomits hit my nostrils harder. Rex swirled and groaned aImost as if she could also smell it. I swept my eyes past the inside and noticed it was more crowded than outside, there was barely a way to pass through. Tightening my hand in hers Lily led me into the house and after lot of shoves—and pushings, we finally got to the living room and I was grateful they were less people sitting around.
Suddenly remembering something, I turn to Lily and shouted, “I don't drink alcohol!“
She flinched and faced me with a raised eyebrow.
“We are werewolves yunno? So you didn't have to shout because we have heightened earings.“ She said chuckling. “Would you like a drink then?“
“Okay.“ I say quietly this time.
“Wait here, lemme get them.“
I nodded thankfully and go ahead to sit down on a nearby couch. I stretched my legs and sigh as the pain in my legs reliefs me. The cab we entered had dropped us some blocks away, the driver making a strange complaint of not wanting to go further into the street. So we literally had to walk the remaining the remaining miles to the party.
Lily walks away to the kitchen I assume and I sunk into my seat, waiting for her. Few minutes later, she returned and handed me a bottle of coke. I thanked her and opened it, gulping down a large quantity from it.
“Do you wanna dance?“ She asked and I noticed she had taken a seat by my side.
I frown and c****d my head.“Huh?“
“Seriously, we can't continue to sit like this. Let's get trashed tonight and I promise we'll head home after I see my brother and his friends.“ She pleaded, pulling off her jacket and placed it on the head of the couch. I hesitated, glancing around the room.
She whinned, grabbing my hand. An habit I'm getting quite familiar with now. “Please, I really love this song.“
Dance the night by Dua Lips was playing, it was one of my favorite also.
A dance wouldn't hurt.
I sigh, standing up. “Alright but we go home after you see your brother.“
She smiled broadly and pulled me to the dance floor. I wasn't really good at dancing but I still tried. Before I knew it, Lily and I danced for about an hour. She was so energetic and I almost couldn't catch up t
with her. I laughed as she swinged me around and almost tripped but quickly balanced myself. I felt eyes on me but I didn't care anymore as I dwelled into the world of happiness. We shouted along with the music and I giggled when Lily missed a line. I was so hot and my voice was becoming awfully sore from too much shouting so I drank out of my drink to ease the lump in my throat.
“This is one of the best night—I've had in a while.“ Lily shouted over the music and I nodded agreeing with her.
For me also, it indeed was.
She drank her bottle and spinned around almost fall over but I quickly steadied her. She was obviously tipsy.
“Alright, Let's go find this brother of yours.“ I shouted to her at the top of my voice and she giggled.
“Okay.“ She led me through the crowd and into the kitchen that was significantly less packed.
“Hey ladies!“ A voice called out and we both see a darker haired guy approach us just as we entered the kitchen. He has a large smile on and I straight my back as he got closer, holding two bottles of beer in both hands.
Lily scoffed, folding her arms together. “Oh please. You were bent on not wanting me here minutes ago. What's your deal now?“
He shrugged his shoulders, “Well, you are with a damsel. Why should I taint my image because of you?“
I straightened my back and secretly scanned him. He was tall with prominent blue eyes just like Lily's. I notice his eyes stay on me and I quickly look away.
Why does he keep staring at me? Is there something my face?
'Amelia, he's giving me a weird vibe.' Rex's voice sneaked into my head.
Lily clicked her tongue at him before facing me and I turn my head to look at her.
“Sorry. This is my pain in the ass older brother. Liam.“ She slurred, pointing to the guy and I nod at her. Figures, they look literally similar only that her brother was more masculine with hard features.
“Hi, I'm Amelia.“ I glance at him, shifting on my foot. I feel uneasy with the way his gaze was on me.
He grins letting out his perfect white teeth. “It's a pleasure mi'lady.“ I let out a small smile in return and looked away again.
Oh, I really want to go home now.
“Where are the others?“ Lily asked looking around the kitchen.
He looks at his sister and scoffed,“You mean your heartrob? At the backyard. We're making a bonfire.“ He answered, his attention falling back on me. “Do you wanna come? We are just about to start a little game. I promise it would be fun.“
I smiled thinnly. “I'm really sorry. I think that we should-”
“Let's do it.“ Lily's voice cuts me off. I grimace and shot her a stare.
Why is she doing this to me? She's pretty aware I don't want to be here anymore.
“Please, I haven't seen him. I really want to.“ She gave me a pleading eyes and pouted her lips. I inwardly groan and gave her a reluctant nod.
“Perfect.“ Liam says grinning like some champion. “Come on, ladies.“ He says as he turns away.
I don't know, I really have a bad feeling about this but exploring wouldn't hurt also, right?
Lily linked her arms into mine and together with her brother, I was led to the backyard, passing through the kitchen's door.
We got outside and I see a group of people all sitted by a wooden burning fire. I clench my teeth and shiver as the cold hair hit me, I curse at myself for not bring a jacket.
“Truth or dare, it is, everyone.“ Liam's voice shouted and all attentions were drawn to us. They all shouted and wolf whistled in response. We walked to them with me holding in a breath in apprehension of what to come.
