Chapter - 8

Maadhuri's Pov..

"Maadhu, did you forget that there will be a meeting" said Lavanya, one of my colleague, as I packed my bag. "Oh s**t, I totally forgot that. Already its getting late and now we have a meeting too. I'm going to be late for our first meeting, what will he think of me?" I murmred. "Don't panic dear, it won't take that long and you would be there on time" she consoled me.

"Whatever, I just don't want him to wait for me so long, lets hope that I would reach there on time" I said as we moved towards the room where the meeting is going to be held.

"By the way Maadhuri, did you decide to continue working after your marriage? and what about your studies" Lavanya asked me. "Oh yes Lav, I will continue my studies.And I decided to work until my research gets over" I replied her. I decided to continue my studies even after the marriage. As I am pursuing my ph.d in the same college I need to visit here very frequently. If I am working here until my research is over, then it would be very comfortable for me to get my research works get done. I have already discussed this with my in-laws and they are ok with me completing my studies.

"But, he is in Pollachi na? won't it be difficult for you to travel here and there everyday?" she asked concerned. But I have already planned a way. "No dear, my in-laws were staying in an apartment near our college. So, I will be staying with them here" I informed her. And apart from my college matters, its my personal choice to stay with them, as I don't want them to stay alone in their apartment. We chatted some random thing as we entered the meeting hall.

The meeting got over after sometime. I looked at my watch and it showed that I have only five minutes remaining until the time we fixed to meet arrives. Oh no, I have to hurry up, I thought as I picked up my bag and paced out of the room. I am 5 minutes late when I entered the cafe. My eyes searched the seats to find their beloved one. At last the stopped on a figure sitting in the corner, near a window which held a view of beautiful plants that were planted outside.He turned and his eyes were locked with mine. My heart skipped a beat as I looked into his captivating eyes. I moved towards him and sat in the seat which is opposite to him as I apologized for being late. But he said it is not a problem. After that we ordered some snacks and chatted for sometime. It is really good speaking with him. After our order arrived he started to tell something to me when we heard a a voice calling for me.

I can't hide my excitement when I looked at the person that called me. It was my childhood friend Suha. We were so immersed in our talks when she suddenly asked about Surya. Oh yeah I remembered then, that I forget to introduce them. I am really embarrassed to look at him. How could I forget his presence?. I wanted to bang my head on the wall. With a small guilt I introduced them both. My cheeks must have turned red by now because of my foolishness. Suha chatted with us for sometime before she left. After that I turned to Surya and reminded him of the matter he started earlier before Suha came.

He remained silent for sometimes. His face looking serious. Seems like he is in a deep thought. From the look of him I can say that he is contemplating about something. But what is that serious matter that he wants to tell me?. I felt something strange here.

"Actually, Maadhu.... try to understand this from my point of view. I know that what I am going to tell you now will be totally unexpected from your side. But this is our life matter and I can't keep this hiding from you" he said in a serious tone. "But what is that you wanna say?" I asked him without knowing the shocking truth that waited for me.

"That....Let us stop this wedding arrangements. I am not interested in this thing. Its my mom who fixed this wedding just because of some misunderstandings" What? I can't believe what I heard. He wanted to stop this wedding. It must be some prank.

"Stop playing with me. Your mom already said me that you like pulling pranks. And this not good to pull pranks with the things that concerned our lives" I said him.

"No, No... I am not playing with you. I am hell serious with this. I want you to stop this wedding as I can't do this on my own" He said in a serious tone. But how could he say this. Our wedding is within a week and now he is here asking me to stop it. What is he thinking. "But why can't you stop this and what were you doing in the past months. If you don't want this wedding then you should have stopped this in the starting itself" I said. He must be crazy for sure. If he is not interested in this wedding then he should have stopped this in that starting itself. Why wait until a week before our wedding and ask me to stop this at the end.

"I know that what I am doing now is totally wrong. But try to listen this carefully I am unaware of this wedding until yesterday" He said in a low voice and explained me the whole situation of what happened from the starting and how his father threatened him to not stop this wedding. As he promised his father he can't stop this wedding so he wanted me to stop this on my own.

"But, how could I stop this? What reason I will give my parents? and what will others think of my family once I stopped this wedding?" I asked him. I just don't want my parents to feel ashamed in front of others because of me.

"But please understand Maadhuri, only you could stop this.." "But its you who want to stop this wedding and its your own problem to stop this. And here is my bill" I payed my share as I took my bag and fastened out of the cafe as I can no more hide my tears in front of him.

I went straight to my room as I don't want my parents to see me in this state. Then they will be worried too. I stayed in my room the whole night. I wanted to cry my eyes out. I need someone to share my thoughts. But I can't say this to my parents. So I called my friend Nisha and poured everything to her. She is really angry on me that I had not stopped this wedding the instant he said me but she calmed down once I informed her how it will affect my parents reputation and how it will affect my other sisters future. But I did not say her that the main thing is I can't make my heart to stop this wedding as it started to loved him like a fool.

My mind became clear after talking to her. I went downstairs to have dinner after sometimes. My parents were not there, they went to rest early as they were tired with all those preparations.

Even though I loved him I did't want to marry him without his wish. If he find a way to stop this wedding without any problem then I will totally agree with him and I will not disturb him. A dry smile formed in my lips thinking about the wedding. 

Surya's Pov

"But its you who want to stop this wedding and its your own problem to stop this" her teary voice echoed in my ears.I don't know why but her tears broke my heart. Her teary face flashed before me from the time I came from cafe. Maybe this is my first time looking a girl crying, that's why I am feeling sad for her. My head started to ache as I continuously thought about a way to stop this wedding. My only plan to stop this wedding stopped, and I cannot do anything directly. Oh god, what will I do now?

"Seems like your plan backfired" someone said from my back. I turned to find my friend Raj standing there. "What plan are you talking about" I asked him confused.

"Your plan to stop this wedding" he said.

"But, how do you know this" I asked him confused. "Hey bro,seems like your dad knew well about you. He asked me to follow you" Shit.....

"So, now you know that I am not interested in this wedding, please help me to stop this" I pleaded him. "i***t, what is your problem, Why do you hate weddings. Listen, Maadhuri is a good girl. It is not easy to find a girl like her. More than that your parents too like her a lot so please don't break their heart" He said in a serious tone.

"But what if she wanted to separate my parents from me like her?" I will not let anyone separate my parents from my life.

"Stop talking about her. Maadhuri is nowhere near that selfish girl. If that is your problem then listen carefully. After your wedding where do you think she will stay? " he asked me.

"Of course here, in this farm house" I replied.

"No, She will stay with your parents. She don't want them to stay alone there, so she decided this" He said.

"If she is that kind hearted then why leave her parents alone to stay with me and my parents" I asked him confused. Won't her parents be alone? Why is he smirking like this now?

"She's got a solution for this problem too bro. She bought a flat for her parents in the apartment where your parents live. And now stop your silly thoughts and come home with me" He dragged me outside to his car.

"But to where?" "You will know once we reach there" he said as he started the car.
