Chapter 5

1095 Words
Mara’s POV I should have known something was up when I asked to see Sebastian, and his secretary looked at me like I'd grown two horns. "Did he book an appointment with you?" She flipped through a book beside the computer, and I was tempted to ask if she always wore that amount of lipstick to work. There was a look in her eyes, one that I should have apparently paid a little more attention to. “He’s expecting me.” Her head jerked up. “That can’t be right. He is…” “You can call him if that will give you some peace. Tell him Miss…Tell him Mara is here.” Her hands reached for the telephone, but she paused, hovering above the sleek black form before withdrawing. “Mr. Crow doesn’t like to be disturbed, especially if he doesn’t have an appointment with ….” "f**k this!" I muttered, heading to his office. I'd only stopped by the desk for courtesy's sake, but it seemed like it didn't apply to me. I didn’t think about it as I twisted the handle and pushed the door open. Maybe I should have, because the scene that greeted my eyes was the last thing I’d expected to see. She had wild blonde hair. Her ass was in the air, and her hands clutched the shelf at the far end of the office, the same one the golden globe had sat on only two days ago. Sebastian was behind her, one hand buried in her hair and the other on her waist. Every thrust made her ass bounce, made the walls echo with her moans. “f**k!” “Yes!” “Urghh!” I felt something sharp in my chest, almost making me double over from the pain. Sebastian knew the moment I walked in. He twisted his head around to take a good look at me. His gaze didn’t falter as he thrust, as he leaned into her and cupped her boobs with the hand he had in her hair. With every move he made, he stared deep into my eyes, as if daring me to do something about it. I knew what Sebastian was doing. And I hated the fact that I let him. I swallowed and stepped back, closing the door behind me, even though it was far from what I had in mind. My heart thudded against my ribs. I told myself that it was anger, not disappointment. “Just business,” I whispered, but even I could hear my voice wobble. The secretary with the lipstick looked at me knowingly as if saying, "I tried to warn you." Well, she could have been more vocal about it. I was only out for a couple of minutes before Sebastian strolled out of his office, seemingly satisfied, if it could be read off the smirk on his face. The woman with the wild hair walked ahead of him, giving me a glance before she got into the elevator. That was it. No goodbye peck. No wave. Nothing. Was that all s*x was to him? Who was I to judge? Only a couple of months ago, I was literally in the same position as that girl, only that it happened in the middle of the night, after too many glasses of vodka. "You're early," Sebastian said in a clipped tone like I had not just witnessed him having s*x. No matter how hard I tried to blink the image away, it stuck like a stain in a white dress. "One would think you came to catch the show." “Trust me, the last thing I was trying to catch was whatever you were throwing around in your office.” Sebastian was having a good time with this, as he shrugged, amusement in his eyes. “Then you should really consider knocking next time. Linda can get really loud sometimes, so maybe waiting back here at the lobby until you are told to come in should do the trick.” The f*****g nerve of this man! He managed to get under my skin by doing the bare minimum. "I didn't realize your office was your personal brothel." I rolled my eyes, knowing that he was right. I should have knocked on the damn door first. "I'd prefer we have our meetings elsewhere from now on." He stepped closer to me, his tone dropping. “You sound pissed, Mara. Is there something you would like to tell me?” I chuckled awkwardly. “Do you always like looking for things that aren’t there? The only reason I am here is because of your enemy.” "Jealousy looks great on you, but maybe if you hadn't run off that morning, things might have been different." “I already told you that I have no plans of talking about that night,” I snapped, a little harsher than I intended. “And don’t flatter yourself. I just really thought that the Greek god billionaire, Sebastian Crow, would have slightly better taste. Guess I was wrong.” “Why do you care about who I was with?” He reached out, his fingers grazing my collar. The right response was to pull away from him. Yet, I found myself doing the exact opposite. I couldn’t fathom why my legs moved on their own accord, why I was now standing too close to him. Close enough that my pulse raced. Close enough that I was beginning to justify the last few minutes in my head. “I don’t care,” I whispered, unable to find my voice. “I just don’t like having to cancel my appointments.” “Mara,” he drawled slowly, his finger moving my collar to the side of my neck. “You have heard of the term ‘multitasking,’ haven’t you? Besides, I always keep my appointments.” “I am not…” “She isn’t half as good as you, though. I still remember the look on your face that night.” “Sebastian…” “You feel something, Mara. You felt it that night,” he continued, his voice dropping again until it was a whisper, one that crawled up my skin and had my eyes fluttering close, like they had a mind of their own. “You just don’t want to admit it.” I forced them open. "I don't know what those girls have made you believe, Sebastian, but you're not that hard to get over." “Then why haven’t you?” “Because there’s nothing to get over.”
