Chapter Two: The First Crush

344 Words
Tamara's heart fluttered as she saw Nico walking down the hall. She had seen him around the school before, but this was the first time they had ever spoken. Tamara thought that he met all of her standards. He was smart, kind, funny, and adventurous, just like she had envisioned. As time went by, Tamara discovered that they had a lot in common. They talked all the time, and it felt like the feeling was mutual. They had become so close that they knew each other's whereabouts and schedules. One day, Nico attended a party and Tamara didn't hear from him for a while. She wondered what had happened, and then she found out that Nico had met his ex-girlfriend at the party. They had patched things up and started dating again. Tamara's heart broke into a million pieces. She had thought that she and Nico were meant to be together. She couldn't understand why he was avoiding her now that he was back with his ex-girlfriend. Tamara decided to confront Nico and find out what was going on. She found him sitting alone at lunch and sat down next to him. "Nico, why are you avoiding me?" she asked. Nico looked at her with sadness in his eyes. "Tamara, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you. The truth is, I got back together with my ex-girlfriend at that party. I didn't know how to tell you because I didn't want to hurt you." Tamara was shattered. She had thought that she had found her first boyfriend, but it turned out that he wasn't interested in her anymore. As she left the lunch table, Tamara realized that she needed to add a new standard to her checklist. She knew that she deserved someone who would not only meet all of her criteria but also be loyal and committed to her. Tamara promised herself that she would never settle for anything less than what she deserved and that she would continue her search for the perfect guy who would meet all of her standards.
