“Well - - if there a school on how to use this abilities, “I’ll very much like to train there”, I said.
“It safer to be on a neutral ground”,
“She said, “neither with the SGO or the government”
“Why is that?” I asked.
“Cause there are both targeted by each other”, she replied.
“I know but - - ,” I started, she held my hands and was looking at me I turned to look at her. We just started into my eyes. Then she gave me a peck.
“Why did it take you so long?” I asked smiling at her as her face flushed red. “You did it again huh?”, she asked still looking down feeling embarrassed. “I couldn’t help it”, I replied twinning my fingers with hers.
“would you like to follow me, we can get stronger together” I asked.
“she hesitated for a while then she nodded. I pulled her into a hug.
“ I’ll find you moni”, I muttered.
…
“We’re running out on food supply myuha” myuiki??”, surprise ringing in my tone “Yeah it’s a shorter for your name you don’t like it?” she said
“Nah, it’s time”, “just didn’t expect it.
We should go look for food though”
“Yeah”, she concurred.
“By the way Shiro”, I said, she turned to look at me, “How about your family your haven’t said a thing about them?”
She remained mute for a while but yet calm. She was wearing a pretty short skirt that was flare. It wasn’t tight so it was adequate for combat. She wore a long sleeve hoddy like mine with a long multi-coloured socks and boots. Her brownish yellow colour in her hair was tweaked in the rays of the sun. Her silence made me ………….. I wanted to retract the question I knew I had to do something. I stood up.
“Well, never mind. I’m really stating to get hungry already after all this talking. We should hurry and find food before it gets dark”. I smiled at her and dragged her out holding her hands.
We wandered in the bush for some while in silence. I held a rifle in my hands; while she was with a short gun and a knife. It was much heavier than I thought. We checked the traps and found nothing, probably the positions are bad. We then strolled a little further. The area was starting to resemble some part of town. The trees were less and broken buildings were still in sight. The destruction was terrifying. They were results of the battle between SGO and the government.
“There’ll be no need going into the town for animals right?”, I asked
“Yeah”, she replied in a low tone, she’s still moody. I wish I hadn’t brought up that subject. As I was still lost in thought, my eyes caught a moving object at the rear end to the right. I immediate haunted and scourged down, pulling Shiro down. She looked at me confused and shocked at the same time, it was written all over her face, I pointed out the figure which looked like a deer. I wonder what its doing here. I pointed the gun at the deer, lying on the grass. I took time to set the gun and aim at the target and without a second thought I fired a shot. Shiro who wasn’t paying attention to me all this time, came shouting. She was trying to warn me against something before I knew it I was knocked out. When I woke up the sun was going down, leaving the sky yellowish orange, and darkness was slowly taking over. I was lying down looking straight up into the sky. My head was resting on her laps, her face came. Into view. “Your awake?”, she said, relieved.
“Yeah”, I replied “what happened?”
“You knocked yourself out”, she replied. “How?”
“The force of the fire pushed the gun back and caused it to hit your forehead making you unconscious. I tried to warn you but I was late”. She explained.
“Ohh”, I exclaimed. We were silent for a while.
“My family have been petrified”, I said, ignoring her reaction I continued, “my dad’s broken, my mom’s missing and my kid sister is left. I hid her somewhere around the house”, I promised and sat up. “I want to find my mom and revive my sister”, I turned to look at her and I looked down “a – And I want you to help out with that”.
We kept quiet again.
“My dad abandoned my mom before the day of the petrification. And I was left with my mom who is now dead. She was petrified and broken”. She said. I was surprised so much that I couldn’t help it and I was also filled with sorrow. She had no hope of family.
“Starting today I’ll be your new family” “I might not be your mom, but I’ll be sure to cherish you Shiro your part of my life now I said. I took her hands in mine and gave her a reassuring look. Tears rolled down her cheeks, she rested her head in my chest as she sobbed. I patted her back.
“I’ll go with you to SGO training school”, she said.
“I’m glad”. I said smiling at her, “I’m sorry we couldn’t catch any thing for dinner”. I added.
“Actually we did”, she replied cleaning her face. “Your shot was impressive; she pointed to the dead deer that was lying close by. She returned my smile.
