Chapter 24
Payton went sailing through the air. Alex’s grip on her arm torn away as she slammed into a wall and landed with a thud. The wind momentarily knocked out of her.
Payton laid on the ground in a daze, her ears ringing. Her entire body hurt. Debris littered over her body like falling snow. What the hell just happened? The living room window was blown in. Something forceful would have had to do that. Her dad had the windows reinforced. It would have taken something pretty heavy like an RPG to penetrate it.
From the looks of the living room that’s what had happened. The whole room was blown to pieces. The window was shattered. She couldn’t recognize any of the furniture any more. Small fires burned in different corners of the room.
