Chapter 29 The first thing she noticed were the sounds of voices and an insistent beeping in the background. She tried to open her eyes to see who the voices were coming from but her eyes felt nailed shut. Her mouth was drier than the Sahara Desert. Her mind was fully awake but her body felt weighted down. Lethargic. Stupid drugs. She didn’t have to open her eyes to know where she was. Payton had been in this situation enough times. Payton hated hospitals. The uncomfortable beds. The heavy mind numbing drugs. The stupid suffocating tube in her nose. The last thing she remembered was Alex fighting Diesel. She had tried sitting up to aid him then everything went black.
