Behr walked down the corridor to Raia’s cabin. He paused in the open doorway and looked around. This was the first time he had been inside her quarters. They had stayed in his cabin when they were together. He closed his eyes and gripped the doorframe as another wave of anguish struck him. There was so much about Raia he still didn’t know—and might never find out. He opened his eyes and scanned the interior. Raia had built a bookcase into the wall farthest from the door. Knickknacks and books she had collected lined the shelves, giving the small space a personalized touch. An old book lay open on the corner desk, and tiny crystals hung from the ceiling, glowing like miniature stars. The room looked as if Raia had just stepped out for a moment. He slowly entered, wishing he had more time
