CHAPTER THIRTEEN
Behr shrugged off Mieka’s restraining hand when Pi and Chummy suddenly appeared before them as they made their way along a service alley. He knelt when the two creatures ran up to him. Chummy placed a tiny paw on his hand.
Raia need help, Chummy said.
“Behr, what is it?” Mieka asked.
“Raia,” he replied. “Pi, show me.”
Pi wrapped her tiny hand around his outstretched index finger. Images of Raia slumped in the lift filled his mind. His breath hissed out when he saw Akita’s face. Pulling his hand free, he rose and turned.
“Where are you going? The ship is the other way,” Mieka protested.
“Raia is in danger,” he said.
Mieka reached out and gripped his arm. “It could be a trap,” she warned.
“It probably is,” he impatiently replied.
