When I stepped into Elias’s burger joint and spotted a familiar figure, a fleeting sense of disorientation washed over me. The recent events between Ivy and me had created an invisible barrier, leaving behind a lingering sense of loss.
Was this girl still my best friend, or had she become someone I wasn’t supposed to care about anymore?
Ivy glanced up from the counter just as I paused in the doorway. Her bright smile greeted me, as warm and natural as always, as though nothing had changed.
