The stillness of the evening shattered as a large number of werewolves cleared the way, allowing Ethan to be taken straight into the operating room.
Several omega helpers from Xavier’s pack gathered around me, offering words of comfort with hesitant smiles. Xavier’s Luna, Lydia, draped a coat over my shoulders and wrapped a towel around me before gently guiding me to sit on a bench outside the operating room.
She handed me a cup of hot tea. “Don’t worry. Xavier has the best doctors in the country. Ethan is in good hands.”
I gave her a faint, almost lifeless smile and cradled the warm cup in my hands. My eyes wandered back on the glowing red words—"In Surgery"—reflected on the polished floor.
