Suzie forgot and stretched her injured hand to receive the plate of food . As soon as she took hold of it , a shearing pain hit her at the elbow so much that she could not continue holding onto it . The melamine plate dropped onto the ground along with the food , shattering into several pieces . The stew made a mess of Dan's clothes as he was the one sitting next to her .
