We move through the frantic city of Vicksburg with Adrian out in front of us. Both Ryan and I have our guns readily available if he chooses to betray us. Down the street, someone darts out of the shadows and crosses in front of us. Stealthy. Fast. The rebels are here. I"m knocked to the ground as a woman barrels out of the building to my right. I hit the pavement as the building explodes. Ryan and Adrian are thrown back. I cover my head as debris rains down around me.
