Chapter 5Leah had tried to wait patiently after the detective had left the exam room, but the look in her eyes when she’d asked how much trouble Amy was in had haunted her. It wasn’t long before she started pacing, marking a tight loop from the cabinet of medical supplies at one side of the room to the far wall and back, occasionally alternating with a swing up to the door and back to the head of the exam table.
She’d probably been going for a good ten minutes at least, when a knock at the door drew her attention. Stopping just past the exam table, she turned to face the door just as Dr. Feldsher stepped in with her chart.
“Hello, Leah. I have your initial exam results. I’d like to go over a few things with you, and then I thought you might like something to eat.”
