She told herself that she needed to spend the evening here because it was one of the safest places she’d found in some time, but she also knew that wasn’t the entire truth.
She’d been in her wolf form pursuing a squirrel as night began to fall, but she broke off the hunt as songs were carried to her on the wind, the voices of the same pair who had answered her before.
Hope bloomed once more along with a healthy dose of fear. Would they really accept her? Allow her in their territory? Or would she be run off and pushed away?
